The fee-for-service model in healthcare prioritizes volume over outcomes—it drives up costs without actually improving patient care. If we transition to a value-based care system, which emphasizes quality and efficiency, we can pivot toward a future where patient health is prioritized and healthcare costs are more sustainable. #FFS #FeeForService #Healthcare #ValueBasedCare #VBC

There are a lot of providers jumping on the value based care bandwagon, but have we seen any better value, defined as quality, access, engagement and total cost of care? Can value improve when providers are owned by health systems and compensated based on RVUs and system revenue generated either directly or indirectly? Can you improve value with 7 minute primary care visits? Interested in your thoughts...

VBC is the perfect example of an oxymoron(An oxymoron is a figure of speech that combines contradictory words with opposing meanings). For too many providers value-based care means maximizing patient revenue, for those paying for healthcare, it means maximizing the value of the dollars spent by eliminating low-value care. If we continue to pay for diagnostics and procedures that add little clinical value we will get low-value care rather than value-based care! 6moWhen done right, strategic partnerships are great for healthcare providers. In some facilities I have worked with, a successful partnership meant staying open and remaining a provider in their community. I am glad we are having the discussion about strategic partnerships in Long-Term Care. We need to consider not doing it alone. Great post McKnight's Long-Term Care News
