Attached is a Harken Riggers Winch running a 2:1 drop loop line for “hauling” the stretcher up the flight of stairs. Rope protection is a combination of STREP, DMM ProPad and DMM Patroller. The basket stretcher is carrying the casualty pre packaged in an Abtech Slix 100 stretcher. The lines are connected to the stretcher with Lyon steel strops to form a hip level pivot. The steel strops are used to protect the ropes running between the stretcher and the stairs. There are many variations, you could add a pully at the stretcher head – more important if manually hauling and you could of course add a belay / safety line – we will leave this to you to decide. What is a Quay Crane (QC)? It is a CHE that can also be referred to as STS. It is a type of large dockside gantry crane found at container terminals for loading and unloading container to and from container ships, respectively. Container cranes consist of a supporting framework that can traverse the length of a quay or yard on a moving platform called a spreader. The spreader can be lowered on top of a container and locks onto the container’s four locking points using a twist-lock mechanism. Cranes usually transport a single container at once, but newer cranes can pick up two to four TEUs at once.
