I don't need external validation to continue being myself. As I've grown as a fashion professional, I've started to attract clients who appreciate authenticity. They often question the need for fashion styling, as they equate it to pretending to be someone else. But styling is not about pretending, it is actually about authenticity. Firstly, it's about understanding yourself — your interests, dreams, what makes you tick. It's about showcasing your inner beauty, not putting on a facade. Secondly, it's not about becoming someone else. It's about owning who you are and expressing it boldly. I've always stayed true to my style, and I won't pretend to be someone I'm not. Last week I shared a random photo shoot wardrobe fail and believe it or not, during the same shoot I had another one! So here’s another little tip. Try your wardrobe before your shoot and look for deal breakers. In this case I thought this dress fit pretty well, but when I took the first shot I saw that there was a distracting little lumpy patch in the underarm area. This is a dastardly area for many women and men, too, from a wardrobe fit point of view because there’s just so much that can go wrong with clothing at that point on the body. This is one reason men’s crisp shirts are often best hidden under a suit jacket! What a mess those can be with all the extra fabric that has nowhere to go. And for women there are the extra undergarments and curves for fabric to negotiate.   So in my case we have an undergarment/dress shape/dress size/fabric type snafu. No, it’s not huge. But it is distracting. I saw it as soon as I looked at the shot. And the thing is it is not easily fixable in retouching due to the texture of the material. Make no mistake, you are selling pictures of jewelry. Over 80% of the shopping journey happens online - no matter where they end up making the actual purchase. So if your photos don’t sell the jewelry, your client is never going to see it in person anyway. So make no mistake, it is the photography that sells your jewelry. And in “editorial” shots like this, where pieces are shown in context, worn, this is where the selection of any other item caught in the frame is of penultimate importance. The STYLING of the photography will make or break the message you are sending. If you are conveying luxury and top quality, then polyester velvet ring stands will not do. And will convey the OPPOSITE of what you want. How to tell you’ve got it right? Take a look at images on your site side by side with images on Pomelatto, Cartier, Tiffany…. Look for the ways you can improve: - Is the jewelry in crisp focus - Is the color authentic to the jewel - Are other items in the frame worthy of jewelry this lovely A comparison like this is an excellent place to start. #DigitalMarketing #Jewelry #Gemstones #Diamonds #BusinessStrategy
