What do you think people love to read from you on LinkedIn?
If you 'can think' very accurately about that and create posts around it. Does this sum up LinkedIn for you? If it does, it shouldn't completely.
For me, 'Whose' post people read is always above 'what they read'.
Explanation: Anywhere, people talk about the same topic either some days/ months before or after. In a way, without even being inspired, we either create awareness or raise our voices in the same direction (maybe with different viewpoints).
Crux: What you're talking about is secondary, but how you're talking about it is primary and that makes 'from whom' people would like to hear something AGAIN, permanent.
I suppose, 'Whose post people read is always above what they read' is clear now.
Now, since I am talking about LinkedIn in particular (unplanned) which I rarely do, let me tell you, that I have a soft and preserved corner for LinkedIn within me.
Before anyone assumes that I am saying it just because of numbers then let me clear a fact.
Growth in numbers is available on any social media account, but differences lie in the choices of platforms and the courage to start from scratch without expectations.
Additionally, growth in numbers is not everything. Our vision, purpose, future and everything we can think of, we consider to choose a platform. To date, I have chosen LinkedIn for it and it turned out to be one of the best 'skeptical decisions'.
LinkedIn has upgraded and uplifted me beyond my expectations and more than I could ever think of being a common human being, who barely maintained a personal diary.
But, did I start for being 'whom' people would return to? No.
I started only for, 'What else can I put up on my resume that doesn't sound normal to me, at least'.
Additionally, I never started for a 'personal brand' because I heard this word here itself and took time to understand how one creates it. And, by the time I did, I already started to love this place and its people so 'how to create a brand' was again not one of my priorities for being here.
And truly this is not my primary idea, even today. I'm not saying this lightly, but I mean this.
Reason: I, to date, don't know what is the exact definition of it. Also, I have not enjoyed the perks of having it (if I have any), so I don't think I am the right person to talk about this or motivate someone based on this.
But, if I can, I'll always motivate people to be on LinkedIn by ONLY asking them to find the 'why' for themselves by being back to their roots and genuine selves.
The answer to 'why' is never fancy, but very warm, basic and close to you.
That answer makes you become 'whom' people would love to read more from, (even if you didn't start for it) because people love to be hosted by grounded people who have been true to themselves and real with the rest while building their base.
Thank you,
Gaurisha Pandey.
