📖 New read, courtesy of The Economist Many family firms lack heirs. Unrelated help is at hand: How to succeed when you have no successor "Handing over a family business to the next generation can be a dramatic process. If the company is big and progeny bountiful, the intrigue is followed with zeal by both the financial press and the tabloids. When 29-year-old Frédéric Arnault, the second-youngest of five scions of the LVMH luxury empire, took over its watch unit at the start of the year, speculation swirled about the succession plan being put in place by his billionaire father, Bernard Arnault. Yet many more heads of family firms face the opposite predicament: they have no heir at all." Navigating a whirlwind of challenges and triumphs this February, but feeling immensely blessed and excited for the journey ahead! 🚀 At Essench Cosmetic Solutions , we're witnessing our dreams transform into reality as our impact continues to grow. This marks our most significant start to a new year with 10 bespoke formulations ready for production, launching 4 new brands, introducing 13 new product lines for existing brands, and restocking for our valued clients. It's both a win and a challenge, but with solid time management and hard work, I'm confident we'll conquer it all. Grateful for the support of our incredible designer, Anni Hamer, who's always by our side, ensuring our client's branding shines. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork 💪 To add to this excitement (and a bit of stress 😅), I'll be delivering a 7-minute #Pitch on Wednesday. A year ago, the idea of pitching would send shivers down my spine. However, thanks to the invaluable experience of being a finalist in the Woman Entrepreneur Pitch Competition with Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce in December, I'm gaining better control over those nerves. Reflecting on that journey, continually seeking improvement, and embracing the nerves as a sign of #growth . It is all go go go at the moment but I'm ready to grab the opportunities, tackle the challenges, and push boundaries. Here's to growth, resilience, and turning dreams into reality! #FeelingBlessed #DreamsIntoReality #WorkHardDreamBig #sundaythoughts #branddevelopment #brandlaunch #productdevelopment #foundersjourney #femalefounded

Throughout 2023, beauty dealmakers were faced with one of the most challenging market environments in over a decade. Dealmaking bottomed out in Q3, when the BeautyMatter Deal Index tracked only 50 deals during the quarter and a record 10 bankruptcies and shutdowns. Activity picked up substantially, however, in Q4, perhaps an indication of a pent-up deal pipeline and renewed optimism as we head into 2024. The BeautyMatter Investment + M&A Transactions Year End 2023 report is available now. To download a free synopsis, visit: https://lnkd.in/epwkHZSf

Discussion topics I’m most excited about at the upcoming Dealmakers Summit in NYC on 17-18 June 🛀**Bodycare and men’s grooming** have shown steady growth and are full of innovative entrants that could be poised for the next round of exciting exits…I’ll be on the panel with Rebecca Zhou, CEO at Soft Services, Rom Ginzburg, CEO at Maelys and Ashleigh Barker, Head of Beusty at Lincoln International. ♾️**Longevity brands** - consumer interest and investment activity in wellness and a focus on less superficial benefits has been growing steadily for years. What is a longevity brand and are they they a gold mine of financial potential? 🛍️**The retail landscape** - has transformed the past three years alongside rising DTC costs. What and who is the future looking like? 👧🏼👵🏾**Alpha to boomers** - Gen Alpha may be the buzziest cohort of consumers, but in reality, each generation drives the industry forward in varying ways. A holistic look at what the opportunities are in each generation and the value each of these groups specifically brings to beauty and value creation. Beyond this, it’s the best event to genuinely connect with friends + make new in the beauty space, bc if you know him Nader Naeymi-Rad knows how to throw a party. As such, it always sells out, link to final remaining tickets in comments below 👇 Beauty Independent | Nader Naeymi-Rad | Claire McCormack | Paris Farsad-Roche | Taylor Bryant

Financial Wellbeing Keynote Speaker on the emotions of money, International #1Amazon Author & Top 0.5% Global Podcaster ‘Its not about the money.’ Financial Coach Trainer and Founder of The Money Panel
I have spent the past month integrating all the lessons I learnt having returned from Necker Island where I spent 10 days with Sir Richard Branson and a group of incredible female leaders. One of the biggest reflections for me has been around Identity. This trip changed me and I want to share everything with you. The identity we carry about money (and how we attach it to who we are) is everything. Beliefs such as: “I’m Not Good at Selling” - Feeding the belief that you have to be some kind of selling expert. “Selling Feels Sleazy” - The fear that selling will make you come across as pushy or insincere. “People Don’t Want to Be Sold To” - The belief that potential clients will be annoyed by your marketing or social media shares. “I Need to Get My Offer Perfect Before I Can Sell It” - The idea that everything must be flawless before you can confidently sell your offers. “People can’t afford to pay that” - The fear that people don’t have any money which means that you attract people in lack. “Why would anyone buy off me? I feel like I have to sell my soul” - The belief that holds us back from getting visible. These beliefs are signs that it’s time to look at, understand and tune up on the identity you carry with money and specifically selling. So I’ve decided to run a free LIVE training, where I will be revealing what I learnt from my experience on Necker Island, only this time we’ll dive much deeper into the topic of Identity, Pricing and Selling so that you can make more money and attract more clients. What I’ll be sharing in this masterclass are the strategies that will help you feel confident with selling so that you can get ‘Booked Out’. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a business newbie or an established entrepreneur, you will absolutely get something out of this. Because no matter the stage of your business, the #1 thing that *always* comes up - is MONEY... right? Register for BOOKED OUT (comment BOOKED OUT below👇): The Simple Strategies To Effortless Selling: Attract More Clients & Make More Money (without seeming greedy or pushy) See you there! #identity #bookedout

🔎𝗟𝗼𝗼𝗸 at 👜𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗯𝗮𝗴𝘀 and beyond; 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗴𝗼 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁: Briefly exchanged with Serafin Asset Management Switzerland's Lugano based merger arbitrage specialist Roberto Bottoli. Tapestry, parent company of Coach, kate spade new york and Stuart Weitzman, wants to 💳 acquire Capri Holdings, owner of Michael Kors, Versace and Jimmy Choo👠 - 🌎𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗮𝗹, 𝗨.𝗦. 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Europe and Japan gave the nod, but the U.S., under new antitrust leadership spearheaded by 35-year-old millennial Lina Khan, is pumping the brakes, signaling a tougher stance on antitrust. Media nicknamed it the handbag case. - 👘𝗔 𝗙𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁? This is not about designer handbags. It's a test case for antitrust, testing the limits of introducing social impacts like worker pay and layoffs in antitrust arguments. Khan, who in the Yale Law School's Review in 2017 championed the idea of making social interests' part of antitrust efforts, is leading the charge. - 🖼️𝗕𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲: Beyond the fashion world, this case sets a precedent, potentially reshaping how mergers are evaluated. If social interests will be established as a key pillar of antitrust, the tech space receives a new dynamic. - 👁️𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: Think beyond the 👡runway. This isn't just about fashion; it's about how the US sees the future of competition and fairness in American business. Lina Khan is an early millennial in a key policy-shaping position. I LOVE in depth business content. Especially in industries I don't work in. Recently I found a youtube channel that combines two of my passions: watches and business content. I have been hooked! Roman Sharf and his team at Luxury Bazaar started a youtube series called "Grey Market" that goes over the day to day of being a Grey Market watch dealer. It includes everything from live negotiations with customers, hiring, cashflow management, and business positioning. If you love business content, watches, or both, I would highly recommend checking out season 1 via the link below. https://lnkd.in/g28RqC5w #businesss #entrepreneurship #content

I agree - businesses are trapped in the profit-first mindset and need to shift to purpose/planet/people-first to thrive.
So Sunday night I get a call from BBC’s Today programme. “Will you come on tomorrow morning and discuss the Body Shop going into administration?” I’m so saddened and angered by the news that one of our greatest British brands is yet another victim to investors. Just weeks after taking control and vowing to 're-energise the business’, they did the opposite. But why do we care so much? Because Body Shop was more than just another retailer selling stuff. This was a brand led by a visionary with a vision. This is what we at Portas call the business of Beautiful Business. Read why we think Anita Roddick’s vision is not only relevant, but the future of business in this week’s newsletter. https://lnkd.in/ef_8Npr7
