Bengal tigers play a crucial role in maintaining the ecological balance of the Sundarbans mangroves in Bangladesh. By fostering a conducive environment for the mangrove trees to thrive, these tigers help keep the air clean, protect coastal communities from flooding, secure the livelihoods of locals relying on the land, and play a pivotal role in climate change mitigation. However, due to poaching and severe habitat loss, the Sundarbans have witnessed a 95% reduction in their historic tiger population. The Sundarbans remain a vital stronghold for Bengal tigers, highlighting the importance of continued conservation efforts in safeguarding both the species and their unique habitat. The year was 2017 - The Better India made a video on our floating wetlands. Featuring our projects in Delhi and Goa. The purpose? Highlighting the importance of floating wetlands, educating citizens and authorities alike on their importance for any polluted water body. Needless to say this video taught and enabled many to build floating wetlands themself, it made people aware in general about the importance of wetlands for revival of lakes (and other water bodies) and today lake management tenders issued in India can't be imagined without the inclusion of floating wetlands!!! These innovative and sustainable methods of waterbody revival as highlighted here by The Better India brought about a subtle revolution to water body management in India, ripples of which have only become stronger and more impactful with time. We thank you The Better India for appreciating and featuring our work. #floatingwetlands #constructedwetlands #wetlands #Delhi #Goa #Colvacreek #lake #pond #creek #baoli #river #stream #sea #ocean #sustainabledevelopment #engineering #civilengineering #environmentalengineering #innovativesolutions #hospitalityindustry #naturebasedsolutions #wastewatermanagement #lakemanagement #waterbodymanagement #learn #pioneers #innovation #India #SwachhBharat #cleanwater #evolve #evolvewithus #water
Thank you The Better India for featuring our work building #floatingwetlands in Delhi and Goa way back in 2017. Your video helped spread this legitimate open source engineering measure for managing lakes across the country and gave citizen groups and real ngos a method they could use to revive their own lakes that would actually help to clean the water. Floating wetlands are a form of #naturepositive #infrastructure that clean water and also provide wildlife habitat for birds and fishes. #wetlandsforindia #evolve #floatingwetland #wetland #betterindia #nature #naturebasedsolutions #sustainable #talkischeap #actionsspeaklouder #philanthropy #ecofriendly #ecological #resilence #climatechange #climateaction #sustianability #sustainabledevelopment #sdgs #sustainabledesign #waterpollution #watertreatment #engineering #engineeringiscool #environmentalengineering #environment #savetheplanet #delhi #india #ideas4viksit #viksitbharat2047 #viksitbharat #viksitbharatbudget #colva #colvacreek #goa

On this International Day of Mangrove Conservation, Watch how Kosher Climate is working to restore the Mangroves of Sundarban Forest. Mangroves are the first line of defense against many natural disasters like Tsunamis and Cyclones which involve tidal irregularities. But between 1996 and 2020, mangrove coverage has declined by 1545 Square Kilometres, around 3.4%. To mitigate this, Kosher is restoring the Mangrove forest in 1000+ Hectares of land in the West Bengal region of India. Restoration will not only enrich the region's ecosystem but will also improve the livelihood of the area's surrounding population. We are also enabling the community by employing over 700+ people, of which, about 90% are women. For more information on the project, write to us at info@kosherclimate.com #mangroves #internationalmangroveresotrationday #mangroverestoration #ecologyrestoration #climateaction #kosherimpact Vamsi Krishna M Anil Kumar V Nagaraju Bellapu Narendra Kumar R Neelesh Sachdeva Vipan Chand Waila

Wetlands cover almost 6% of the Earth’s land surface and are vital for human health, food supply, livelihoods, and biodiversity. Despite their vital role, wetlands are disappearing 3 times faster than forests becoming Earth’s most threatened ecosystem. However, with proper interventions we can reverse the damage we have caused to our wetlands. In 2019, One Tree Planted supported Sustainable Green Initiative to plant mangroves at Netaji Char, Sundarbans, West Bengal, India. After three years, drone images were taken to capture the change this project has brought about. #worldwetlandday #mangroves #sundarbans

Despite being a Hot-Spot, it has not been declared as eco-sensitive area; which could have averted the situation of landslides. What is hot spot? Areas having high species diversity that include endemic species ( species which are restricted to one place and not found anywhere else) and are under threat. Out of 36 hot-spots all over the world; 4 are found in India. Western Ghats are one of them. What is Eco-sensitive area (ESA) ? They are the areas notified by ministry, (MOEFCC in India) where activities are regulated to minimise the impact on surrounding environment. #environment #sustainability #climatechange

Riverine landscapes such as Bodoland are home to interconnected landscapes of Beels (wetlands). They are highly productive ecosystems that support biodiversity and act as natural sponges, helping stabilize soil and contribute to flood control. Over the last few decades, like in many other parts of the country, the beels too have seen an increase in polluted wastewater, and an invasion of aquatic weeds, leading to a decline in the number of bird and fish species. This, coupled with the declining network of channels of the Brahmaputra River, has led to an increase in monsoon flooding in the region. WRI India, thorough the #ThrivingEcoCityRegions initiative, is supporting Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) to arrive at a regional strategy that secures ecological assets such as wetlands and improving blue-green infrastructure integration, climate resilience and ensuring ecologically sensitive development.
