We feel optimistic for having conducted Two-day workshop on “TPM - Total Productive Maintenance” for our employees at McWane India Pvt Ltd, Sri City. At its core, the TPM approach is about the maximization of productivity as well as the lifespan of equipment by allowing workers to take responsibility for these issues on a day-to-day basis. This is achieved through following the fundamentals of Total Productive Maintenance which includes Autonomous Maintenance, An ongoing strategy of planned maintenance and the drive for focused improvement. TPM assigns the responsibilities for routine equipment maintenance tasks, such as lubrication, cleaning, and inspection, to the regular operators of various machines throughout the facility. Workers thus cannot simply let their equipment fall into disrepair or relying on the intervention of dedicated maintenance technicians to bring it back to working order. This aspect of TPM is about having smaller groups of staff working together proactively toward achieving systematic, incremental improvements in machine operation. Here, small but cross-functional teams can identify and resolve recurring problems. It also combines a pool of talent within the company, and this further catalyzes continuous improvement. #McWaneIndia #Sricity #TPM

Ensuring the safety of our factory workers is one of the pillars of our business strategy. On World Day for Safety and Health at Work, we want to highlight our efforts in protecting our factory workers through Vikram Singh’s experience. Vikram is a Shift Engineer at our Nagda plant. He shares: “Grasim Pulp & Fibre incorporates safety within the factory through comprehensive policies. Before starting work, we pray to God and take an oath of safety as a team. This practice mentally prepares us for the tasks ahead, instilling a mindset that places safety at the forefront of all our endeavors. Next, we diligently follow a checklist of dos and don'ts, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols. We are encouraged to conduct a thorough Job Safety Analysis to determine hazards and devise effective preventive measures. We are empowered to take adequate breaks for rest and support each other in following safety guidelines. Our facility has established general safety regulations and life-saving protocols, complemented by a robust work permit system to maximize safety. Before assigning any work, it is standard to conduct Toolbox Talks (TBT) and TAKE-2 #safetyprotocols. TBT is a group discussion based on the PRISE model where we collectively review planned daily tasks. During TAKE-2, we discuss the assigned job for at least two minutes before starting it. At Grasim, safety is not a one-time effort but a continuous commitment. By prioritizing safety in our daily routines, we safeguard ourselves and each other from harm.” #Grasim #WorldDayOfSafetyAndHealthAtWork #SafetyFirst #employeeengagement

In your career path you will sometimes be tested before you are approved. You need to have a positive mental attitude to see this as an opportunity to prove yourself. After being a process controller for a while, I was appointed a shift Incharge on an acting capacity on night shift for one year. The main purpose was to up the night shifts production output that was low compared to that of day shifts. Although my close friend told me it was a punishment I took it as an opportunity. I started by minimizing downtime of both the plant equipment and packing machines. I started minimizing wastage by optimizing the drier and milling operations. In less than a month the night production output was higher than that of the day and was confirmed. Don't fear tests, don't listen to friends all the time, take risks, take opportunities, prove yourself,be ready to stand alone even if everybody is seated! #career #opportunity #growth

Safety first , Safety always
Recently, I had the opportunity to conduct a Gemba walk with our team in the Electrical Workshop area at our Vijayanagar facility. This experience enabled me to engage directly with our frontline workers, evaluate our current safety protocols, and identify areas for enhancement. These initiatives are crucial in cultivating a workplace culture where employees are encouraged to voice their concerns and participate in decision-making processes. At Epsilon, safety isn't merely a set of guidelines but a fundamental aspect of our daily operations. #SafetyExcellence #GembaWalks #SafetyAtWork #SafetyProtocols

Boost Your Operations with PMH's Maintenance and Battery Services Tips to Increase the Life of Your Forklifts and Batteries Forklift Maintenance Tips 1. Implement a Routine Maintenance Schedule: Regular maintenance is not just a task, it's a crucial step towards identifying and addressing minor issues before they escalate into major problems, ensuring the smooth operation of your forklifts and batteries. Action: Schedule routine checks for essential components such as brakes, hydraulics, and tires. Ensure these checks are performed by trained personnel to maintain the forklift's optimal performance. 2. Train Operators Properly: Well-trained operators are the backbone of equipment longevity. Their knowledge and skills significantly reduce the chances of equipment misuse, which can lead to excessive wear and tear. Provide comprehensive training programs for all forklift operators, focusing on correct usage techniques, safety protocols, and routine checks. 3. Keep Forklifts clean. Dirt and debris can cause operational issues and reduce the lifespan of your equipment. Regularly clean the forklifts, particularly the undercarriage and moving parts, to prevent build-up that can lead to mechanical failures. Battery Maintenance Tips 1. Monitor Battery Water Levels: Maintaining the correct water levels in your batteries is crucial for their longevity and performance. Check the water levels in the batteries regularly and top them up with distilled water as needed. Avoid overfilling to prevent spillage and corrosion. 2. Equalize Batteries Regularly: Equalizing charges helps balance the cells and prevent sulfation, which can shorten the battery's life. Perform equalization charges as recommended by the battery manufacturer. This typically involves charging the battery at a higher voltage to ensure all cells are equally charged. 3. Avoid Deep Discharges: Deep discharging can significantly reduce a battery's lifespan by causing excessive strain on the cells. Recharge the batteries before they are completely discharged. Implement a charging schedule that ensures batteries are adequately charged during downtime. We hope you find these tips helpful in extending the life of your forklifts and batteries. Routine service is something that quite a few people don't think too much into, but is arguably the most important job of any service desk. Yes most field #engineers will tell you it's the worst type of job they go to, because it's repetition and not nearly as interesting as a breakdown that you can really sink your teeth into, but that doesn't mean it isn't a crucial job none the less? I like to call it the 'spend to save package', where upcoming issues and wear can be identified and resolved before they cause a total machine breakdown - resulting in production downtime, call out charges, labour and parts (typically costing more to the customer than if they caught it on a service visit). Additionally your machine gets a complete #healthcheck , oils changed, filters cleaned, lubrication restrictors replaced and more! The #pieceofmind that comes from an in depth service is worth ten times the amount that a service may cost from any manufacturer. Afterall, you wouldn't refuse to service your car once/twice a year? Next time you look at your machine, think about when it last had its #service carried out, perhaps it would benefit from a visit! One day into a 2 day 3 #machine service visit at one of my local customers this week. 1 and a half machines completed today, the second 1 and a half tomorrow. Customer gets piece of mind that they've had the very best work carried out and can happily carry on with their #3axis, #5axis and #rotary machining processes worry free! #hurco #machinery #machinetools #machineshop #local #maintenance
