Tomorrow is the Ball State University Cardinal Job Fair! The Cardinal Job Fair holds a special place in my heart because it’s where I met Marques Fisher back in 2009 (or 2008). Even though we didn’t have a job to offer…just a free student membership, that connection turned into something much more valuable. To this day, I tell students about Marques and how intentional he was about his involvement with the Indiana CPA Society. He didn’t just sign up as a student member—he jumped in, attending events, volunteering, and building connections. I encourage every student to attend recruiting events like this, not just for the potential job offers, but to meet people and build relationships. Engage with the professionals you meet, follow up, and if they offer to have coffee or a chat—take them up on it! Your future career isn’t just about landing a job; it’s about building a network.
