The NHS is struggling. With some patients waiting over 18 weeks for an appointment and limited capacity to deliver services, tackling the elective care backlog takes a lot of work. That's where we come in. We partner with NHS trusts to deliver services when they would otherwise be idle (typically weekends). This means we help increase capacity sustainably, ensuring patients are seen sooner and improving NHS productivity and efficiency. 🏥 #electivecare #nhstrusts #patientcare #nhsinsourcing

Our collaboration focuses on reablement, empowering individuals to master daily activities and regain independence and enable them to return home or assess for longterm needs at right time. This collaboration not only enhances patient outcomes but also drives financial efficiency and frees up hospital beds. Most importantly, it empowers patients to reclaim independence, reducing strain on hospital resources. Together, we're revolutionising post-hospitalisation care with a patient-focused reablement approach one Trust at a time. NHS in perspective: 1948-2024 (Part 2) What has this to do with the Darzi Report, which filled this morning’s front pages? The resources for the NHS have not kept up with an ageing population and developments in treatments, both surgical and medical, while our expectations have probably exceeded what is reasonable. I will not dwell on the incremental privatization of the NHS, with private providers picking the low-hanging fruit, nor on the damage done by the creation of the internal market. I would merely say that, in less than 28 months, Andrew Lansley’s ‘reforms’ did incredible damage to the NHS and his successors did little to put things right. The previous government made reckless and false promises (40 new hospitals) which raised expectations but, by austerity, destroyed delivery. “Nor will there be overnight any miraculous removal of our more serious shortages of nurses and others and of modern replanned buildings and equipment.” I am sure, with justification, we will hear Kier Starmer or Wes Streeting use very similar words quoted above. They are, of course, works spoken by Nye Bevan in early July 1948. We must retain a national health service free for all at the point of delivery. We must resist moves towards a two-tier system, and avoid any further privatisation.

The Times headline 30th March 2024 "NHS patients facing long waits will get private care". This is a rather pathetic sticking plaster or another move towards privatising the NHS. The doctors who work in the private sector are NHS doctors so the same clinicians are operating in both - but they cannot work in both at the same time so it is just a gimmick. The private sector needs to make a profit so it will cost the NHS more. These tactics add to NHS costs as does employing agency staff and in doing so kicks the can of increasing NHS decline down the road. No sign of the 40 new Boris hospirals!!! The Government and NHS need to take control of costs and allocate more for capital spend to create integrated hospitals (combination of acute and stepdown). These can provide 20% more beds at no extra capital nor operational cost. (it is achieved by a re-balance that I have worked on in other countries). This relieves the bed blocking - which will get worse very year because of our ageing demographic.

The NHS faces an unprecedented demand for elective care and substantial pressure on its finances. We are here to support these two critical issues and work in partnership with providers and ICBs to deliver improvements. Focusing on the ‘Recover’ element of our three-phased RST approach, we showcase the patient-centred results from delivering high impact interventions. Working hand-in-hand with NHS Trusts, we have enabled clinical teams to meet performance targets, eliminate long waiters and successfully reduce patient backlogs within their current establishment and budget. This short brief outlines how we develop and deliver interventions, support teams in elective recovery, sustaining their services and transforming the way in which they deliver care. #EYHealthUK #ElectiveRecovery #NHS Ashwin Thurairaj Rosie Morgan Charles Byrne Lucy Pittaway Ed Pennington Rebecca Norman-Kime Claire Crowley

NHS waiting list falls for third month in a row, thanks to efforts of staff The NHS waiting list fell in December for the third month running, while winter pressure continued to hit the health service hard with A&E and ambulance services experiencing their busiest ever January. England’s top doctor hailed the hard work and dedication of staff as new figures show the number of patients waiting for elective treatment fell by more than 19,000 in December, despite the NHS needing to reschedule 86,329 appointments due to industrial action. The new figures, published today, show that the overall Covid backlog fell by more than 6,200 in December for the third consecutive month and is now down by 164,898 since September to 7.6 million. Monthly performance statistics show that the proportion of people waiting over a year for elective care is the lowest it has been since November 2020, at 4.4% of the entire waiting list. NHS staff also delivered more elective activity in 2023 than in any other year since the start of the pandemic – with more than 17.3 million people treated. The latest data also shows the significant demand for services in January, as the NHS managed the longest period of industrial action in its history with 6 days of strikes by junior doctors. https://lnkd.in/eawrMtVB

Why did we come into medicine and healthcare? To help people, that's why. As healthcare professionals and allied service providers, we work to deliver better patient outcomes. Unfortunately, the NHS is struggling to cope under the stress and strains of the admissions, with 7.6 million people currently on the waiting list. Patients are waiting in ambulances to be seen, and in A&E and waiting rooms, sometimes for months to get critical and much-needed care. This is not just an NHS problem; it is on all of us. So, what can other stakeholders, including #pharma, do to help the NHS deal with this situation? All ideas are welcome as to how we can help improve the outcomes, wait times and standard of care. Who knows who may need the vital services the NHS provides next? Let's work together to ensure that patients receive the care they need, when they need it. #healthcare #patientcare #NHS #improvingoutcomes Content that Connects Closing Delta

It would be interesting to see the transformation/improvement spends by country focussed on these kpis from the dates shown to date. I wonder where I could get this information?
Yet again real mixed emotions of sadness and despair while reading a BBC headline about the fact that ‘Most key NHS targets have been missed for at least seven years across the UK’ (see below) We at OPERASEE LIMITED completely understand how hard the people within the system work and care. Our numbers do the talking, and over the last 19 years we have accumulated real data to prove our methods work. We have helped individual organisations achieve these target by focussing on the patients. Over the coming weeks we will be posting here how the processes that we have designed over the years dramatically improve the efficiency of processes in Healthcare thereby saving money whilst reducing waiting lists (time from referral to treatment), overcrowding in A&E, Ambulance waiting times and delayed discharges to name but a few. These issues were featured at the very beginning of our book 'Making Hospitals Work’. Published in 2009 it now more relevant than ever. We are here to help so please drop us a line, let us show you the facts and what we can do for you.
