As Senior Systems Engineer at United Musculoskeletal Partners, you'll be on a team building a national technology platform to support orthopedics groups across the country. This encompasses everything from architecture and design to implementation and ongoing maintenance and support of infrastructure systems and associated technologies including operating systems, storage, virtualization, networks and security in both on premise and cloud hosted environments. This includes performance of routine tasks including daily systems administration and backups as well as break/fix support across all of these areas. With minimal supervision, leads the implementation of enhancements, updates, upgrades and patches to ensure equipment is preventively maintained, running properly and protected from security threats. Ensures users are kept informed of changes on a timely basis. Develops and executes test plans to ensure updates are fully tested before going live. Performs spot checks in key areas/scenarios to ensure systems are up-to date as well as to minimize risk to ongoing operations.Monitors and reports on processes, uptime, performance, utilization and capacity of systems and technologies. Collects and analyzes key performance metrics in order to recommend improvements in those systems and technologies or their associated process.Executes and monitors equipment backups to ensure data and applications are safeguarded and can be restored to establish normal operation after an incident or disaster.Troubleshoots complex issues within and outside of the SME's domain. Provides or obtains their timely resolution. Analyzes failures, identifies root cause and implements and documents short and long-term corrective actions. Monitors infrastructure related licensing and maintenance and support contracts, including coordinating support from 3rd party service providers.Writes and maintains technical documentation related to networking and infrastructure and updates as appropriate. In areas of expertise, provides training and direction to other IT staff so that they may effectively perform their daily activities related to IT infrastructure.Adheres to company polices, regulations and industry standards on compliance, information security and confidentiality. Provides recommendations on products or processes within IT security to adhere to or improve compliance to current or future company policies, regulations or industry standards.Management may, at its discretion, assign or reassign responsibilities to this job at any time.In depth, up to date technical knowledge and hands on experience in most or all of the following areas: Microsoft Windows Server, Microsof

Technology company Cisco announced Wednesday that it plans to lay off 5% of its global workforce, amounting to thousands of employees, as part of a company-wide restructuring. Cisco employs nearly 85,000 people, according to the company’s most recent annual report, meaning that more than 4,000 workers will likely be affected by layoffs. Cisco indicated that the layoffs would begin this year and continue into next year, Cisco’s job cuts come amid a string of layoffs in the tech industry, even as those companies pour billions of dollars into AI. Google, Amazon, PayPal and Duolingo have all announced layoffs recently. All told, more than 34,000 tech employees have been laid off since the start of 2024.
