#Verizon Verizon Communications announced today that it has fully allocated the $1 billion in proceeds from its most recent green bond, issued in May 2023, will the full amount directed towards investments in renewable energy, supporting the company’s clean energy targets. According to Verizon’s Green Bond Impact Report, proceeds from the bond, Verizon’s fifth green bond since 2019, were allocated entirely to renewable energy purchase agreements (REPAs), supporting renewable energy projects under development in five states, including Illinois, Maine, North Dakota, Ohio and West Virginia, and covering nearly 0.9 GW of capacity, of which 53% is solar and 47% is wind energy. Verizon added that it is on track to exceed its target to source the equivalent of 50% of its total annual electricity consumption with renewable energy by 2025, and that it will continue to identify new renewable energy projects under development to support its goal to reach 100% renewable energy by 2030. https://lnkd.in/dYxeXeVA

Project Manager @ EDP Renewables | Electricity Imports, Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, Energy Regulations
EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) has signed a long-term capacity tolling agreement with Dominion Energy to develop an 85MW/340MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in Virginia, set to begin commercial operations in 2027. This project strengthens EDPR NA's commitment to innovation and new technologies. Previously, EDPR NA inaugurated the 200MW/40MW Scarlet I solar-plus-storage project in California, contracted under power purchase agreements with local electricity suppliers. The company also operates several renewable energy assets in California and is expanding projects like the Sandrini Solar Park, reflecting its active role in the energy storage market. These efforts illustrate EDPR NA's broader strategy to enhance its renewable energy footprint in the United States.

Exciting insights from this study on solar projects! It emphasizes the crucial role of communication and community engagement for sustainable energy initiatives. A great reminder to prioritize local involvement for positive impact. #SolarEnergy #CommunityEngagement #Sustainability
The DOE just launched Renewable Energy Siting through Technical Engagement and Planning (R-STEP) to expand decision-making capacity for state and local governments around large-scale renewable energy planning, siting, and permitting. “This effort accelerates renewable energy deployment by supporting the establishment of more predictable, community-oriented, and science-based siting processes for renewable energy developers and permitting authorities,” said a DOE press release." #DriveEnergyForward https://lnkd.in/gszUKPvs

NextEra, one of the top clean energy operators in the US, along with utility giant Entergy, has announced a major initiative to develop 4.5GW of solar and storage projects over the next five years. Although specific locations and timelines for these projects haven't been disclosed, both companies have substantial renewable energy portfolios in the US. Entergy, for example, currently operates 14 solar projects with a total capacity of 585MW and two solar-plus-storage projects with 101MW capacity. Entergy's Group President, Rod West, highlighted the benefits of this collaboration, emphasizing the provision of affordable renewable energy to customers in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. Currently, the two firms are working on 1.7GW of renewable energy projects. Entergy plans to add 2.9GW of solar capacity by 2028 and has four solar-plus-wind projects in the pipeline, aiming for a combined capacity of 4.9GW by 2029. NextEra is expanding its battery energy storage systems (BESS) across 19 states, including Arkansas and Texas, and has shown strong growth in its solar projects. In 2023, NextEra added 1.2GW of solar capacity and reported a net income of $112 million in the fourth quarter. This new partnership with Entergy is expected to further boost their renewable energy expansion. #renewableenergy #solarpower #cleanenergy #energystorage #nextgenpower #sustainablefuture #greeninnovation

Demand for renewable energy resources has never been more robust, and billions of dollars in federal funding are now available to support projects designed to meet the demand. Projects that qualify for funding are designed to harness energy from water, wind or solar sources. Some technology projects are also eligible. The deployment of renewable resources is expected to grow by 17% in 2024, the U.S. Energy Information Administration has announced. If that happens, it will represent almost one-quarter of all power generated in America. The offshore wind market is positioned to receive even more federal investments because of a stated goal to have 30 GW of offshore wind energy by 2030 (enough to power 10 million homes). In fact, the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management will hold lease auctions this year to demonstrate ongoing interest in the offshore wind industry, whose supply chain alone may generate over $100 billion in revenue by 2030. #renewable #energy #climate #energyTransition Click the pic and see more https://lnkd.in/eCAATjkZ
