Today marks the start of Cervical Cancer Prevention Week. Did you know... - 3,200 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK alone every year - Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer in women globally - Untreated HPV infection causes around 95% of cervical cancer cases - In the UK, 1 in 4 people don’t attend their cervical screening test It can be scary, but speaking to a trusted healthcare professional is the first step in the treatment journey. We hope as a society we can make bigger steps towards early prevention and treatment. #cervicalcancerpreventionweek #cervicalcancerawareness

January is Cervical Health Awareness Month. The National Cancer Institute projects that approximately 13,820 individuals will be diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2024, and over 4,360 will die from the disease. For the most part, cervical cancer is a preventable disease. Nearly all cases of cervical cancer are caused by infections with high-risk strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV). Fortunately, the HPV vaccine currently used in the United States, Gardasil 9, can protect against nine of the 12 high-risk HPV strains. It’s about time! The FDA has just given approval to allow women to self-collect vaginal samples for human papillomavirus (HPV) testing in a health care setting. HPV is the cause of virtually all cervical cancer, and HPV testing is the preferred screening method by the American Cancer Society. Self-collection can improve cervical cancer screening access, especially in unscreened and under-screened populations. With vaginal self-collection as an option for cervical cancer screening, women are more inclined to participate in such care, allowing health care providers an alternative option to identify a high-risk HPV infection in more convenient care settings. #cervicalcancer #womenshealth #publichealth #BDemployee https://bit.ly/4cFFNZy

This week is Cervical Screening Awareness Week! Cervical screening detects HPV, these are types of viral infection which are the main cause of cervical cancer. If caught early, these can be treated before they turn into cervical cancer. All those eligible should attend their screenings regularly (current recommended intervals are every three years for those aged 25-49, and every five years for those aged 50-64). More attended their appointment last year compared to previous years and Public Health want to continue that positive trend. We can help with this by encouraging everyone who has been invited to attend their free screening! #WilliamsMedical #CervicalScreeningAwarenessWeek

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 🎗️ In January, we join the global effort to raise awareness about #cervicalcancer – a cancer that is preventable and, when detected early, often curable. Each year, around 5,000 women in Switzerland are diagnosed with precancerous cervical changes, and approximately 250 develop #cervicalcancer. The primary cause is a persistent infection with the human papillomavirus (#HPV) – the most common sexually transmitted infection worldwide. At MSD, we are committed to advancing both prevention and treatment of cervical cancer, with the ultimate goal of eliminating HPV-related cancers in Switzerland. #CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth #inventingforlife

January is an important month in raising awareness for cervical cancer, as it marks Cervical Cancer Awareness Month. Cervical cancer is a type of cancer that affects the cervix, which is the lower part of the uterus that connects to the vagina. It is often caused by certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV), a common sexually transmitted infection. Cervical cancer is preventable and treatable if detected early, so it's important to raise awareness for cervical cancer and encourage regular screenings by healthcare providers. This month, let's work together to spread awareness and encourage the women in our lives to take care of their health. #CervicalCancerAwarenessMonth
