October is American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Physical Therapy Month, and this year’s focus is on fall prevention—a crucial topic for us at Mission Gait, where our commitment to gait rehabilitation makes fall prevention a top priority. 🌟 If you have peripheral neuropathy or decreased feeling in your feet that affects how you walk, PTs specializing in balance and gait can help lower your risk of falling. Balance training may even improve position sensation in some people with peripheral neuropathy. If you're interested in the research behind physical therapy for neuropathy, an excellent article is PMID: 2744506. 📚 #missiongait #choosept #fallprevention #peripheralneuropathy #physicaltherapy

Do you have a job that requires looking up a significant amount of time? Does looking up create pain in your neck? When we look straight up, most of the movement occurs in the middle of the neck (C4, C5 and to some degree C3 and C6). This is demonstrated by a skin fold in the back of your neck. To alleviate excessive wear and tear on those segments, try using the following combination of movement. Tilt your head to the left while rotating your head to the right. The opposite also works. You will notice less of a skin fold in the back of the neck, suggesting movement is better shared throughout the cervical segments. If you want to stay up-to-date with us, follow our Page.

Why are tight hamstrings bad? Tight hamstrings can lead to lower back pain, bad posture, imbalances of muscles, and knee pain. If your hamstrings aren't flexible enough they will be more susceptible to injury. Once your hamstrings are tight, other muscle groups will follow resulting in stiff joints and posture problems.
