Hello! We are Meanwhile. Since 2008, our team has been designing, delivering and managing excellent living schemes with one aim in mind: to provide buildings that make life better and easier. What started with student accommodation at Scape expanded to encompass a new model for urban living with Morro, and now we’re looking at our next chapter. After delivering close to 5,000 beds in design-led city dwellings across the UK and the USA, our founders are launching Meanwhile, a global, fully integrated platform under which our two market-leading brands will now sit. Our founders are bringing their years of experience and numerous interests to Meanwhile so we can continue to deliver homes that are a joy to live in, generate exceptional value and deliver long-term growth. Our brands will continue to be run by the Meanwhile Group and a team of highly experienced sector experts who share our same entrepreneurial spirit. We look forward to creating fresh ideas and benchmarks, all while improving our neighbourhoods and cities as we build our presence in new and existing markets. 20 years. That is how long it took for an urban regeneration project to be considered 'completed'. 20 years ago I was finishing school. It's true that these projects are complex and require patience. But the real challenge isn't the years it takes to rebuild bricks and mortar, it's ensuring the impact lasts far longer. Are we creating vibrant, thriving communities? Are we generating sustainable jobs and opportunities for local people? That's the real measure of success in urban regeneration and placemaking. 🏡 💼 https://lnkd.in/dmCrmues

I live in a 67sq mtr apartment in Sydney with my daughter and my husband. I'd be happy to keep living in an apartment , for the next decade or more, but as this article rightly outlines -- apartments in Sydney are simply not designed for families. This country has long viewed apartments as 'slums of the future' and 'un-Australian' (for more read George Greiss in https://lnkd.in/gWndmzRf). But if we're going to tackle housing affordability, then in-fill development in areas proximate to public transport just makes sense. The challenge that this article points out -- is that 19% of Sydney apartments have three bedrooms, many units only have a dining space for two, and there's usually no mud room type dumping space for bags, gumboots and scooters. So, unless we want this city's families to move out to regions, (leading to no-one in offices and a productivity drain!) we need to change how we design apartments. I'd love to see a push for more fit-for-purpose apartments in this sprawling city, just like you see in other global cities. Like if you agree :) https://lnkd.in/gm_958MD
