Exciting News! I've been selected as a Judge for this year's Reuters Events: Automotive D.R.I.V.E in the category of Empowering Women! Diversity isn’t a deliberate strategy at FIL / A4L Dbn; it’s an intrinsic way of life that has evolved naturally. Perhaps that’s what happens when a company was founded 27 years ago by a woman on her own with one press on a farm and grows into a 10,000 sqm print powerhouse! We’re fortunate to have exceptionally driven, talented women on our team. In celebration of Women’s Month, we’d like to introduce you to a few of them throughout the month. Meet Desiree Munsamy, our Head of Quality for our full operation! A proud wife and mother to a spirited 3-year-old daughter, Desiree is a qualified Food Technologist and is currently studying a Diploma in Packaging after working in quality for 20 years. We were fortunate to have her join us in 2014 and she has been an invaluable asset ever since. Here’s what she has to say about being a powerful woman in print: “Historically, the print industry was dominated by men, but women have always been at the heart of its transformation. They have defied stereotypes, broken barriers, and demonstrated extraordinary talent and resilience. I love being a woman in print, especially at FIL / All4Labels Dbn, because it gives me the opportunity to shatter the glass ceiling that prevents women from rising to positions of responsibility and advancing to higher positions within an organisation simply because they are women. I aim to use the opportunities I have gained in the printing industry to empower and inspire other women to revolutionise this once male dominated field and prove that women can succeed in any industry they choose. My goal is to continue to champion diversity and inclusion, ensuring that every woman has the opportunity to contribute and thrive. I want to support initiatives that empower women, provide mentorship, and create environments where everyone’s voice is heard and valued. In every facet of this industry—whether it’s design, production, management, or entrepreneurship—women have made significant contributions. They are the creative minds behind the most captivating designs, the leaders driving innovation, and the mentors guiding the next generation of talent. I am proud to be an advocate of change and hope to continue pushing boundaries, embracing innovation and inspiring others to join us on this remarkable journey.” #womenpower #breakingboundaries #owningherfuture

Did you know that women make up only about 6 percent of inventors? This statistic highlights the gender disparity in the field of innovation and invention. Despite this, women have made significant contributions to various fields. For example, consider the invention of the waterbed. While it is commonly associated with Charles Hall, who designed the modern version in 1968, women inventors have also contributed to advancements in comfort and sleep technology over the years. Addressing the gender gap in inventorship is crucial for fostering a more inclusive and diverse landscape of innovation. Encouraging and supporting more women to become inventors can lead to a richer variety of ideas and solutions that benefit society as a whole. #invention #women #womeninventors #innovation #invention. #gendergap #inventors #Encouragingwomen #supportingmorewomen
Do you know what percentage of inventors are women? 🔎 Only 13%. When I invented Spanx in 2000, it was only 6.8%. The amount of female primary patent holders hasn’t even doubled in 24 years. If you think about it, most of the world around us was created and invented by men. But what would it look like if there were more inventions and products made from the feminine point of view? Like long lasting lipstick… Genius!💄❤️🔎 #FemaleInventors #Inventors #Women

A big part of my personal brand and mission is to empower women and grow our foothold in the business world. I've been doing a lot of research lately on women in business, the challenges and pain points experienced by female business owners, and the obstacles we face at the intersection of our professional and personal worlds. While doing this research, I came across a stat that revealed that when it comes to Venture Capital funding, 97+% of VC funds are distributed to men, while only 2% of them are awarded to women. I believe that changing this one HUGE discrepancy changes the entire landscape for female business owners and inventors alike. Women in the financial sector, what positive changes are you seeing for women in business? What obstacles continue to hold women back? I'd love to hear from your vantage point. #womeninbusiness #femalefunding #venturecapital #entrepreneurs #womeninfinance
