Ukraine will likely receive a number of AGM-154 Joint Standoff Weapon (JSOW) glide munitions in a new $375 million U.S. aid package next week, Politico reported. The unpowered air-to-ground weapon has a range of over 70 miles, depending on flight profile, so it can be launched from outside the range of most enemy’s air defense systems. JSOWs do not have the reach of air-launched cruise missiles like the U.K.-French Storm Shadow/Scalp-EG it has received, or the German Taurus KEPD 350 cruise missiles it has long coveted. They also aren’t as capable, long-ranged, hard-hitting, or stealth as the AGM-158 JASSM cruise missiles Ukraine wants most for its F-16s. However, it still gives Ukraine a weapon that can fire from safer distances at Russian troop concentrations, air defenses, and other targets, and navigate around air defenses to get there Note: They are relatively cheap and (historically) plentiful, and can be used to make the 30-50+ miles in front of Ukrainian lines a very difficult place to operate

WASHINGTON, June 28 (Reuters) - “The Biden administration has sent to Israel large numbers of munitions, including more than 10,000 highly destructive 2,000-pound bombs and thousands of Hellfire missiles, since the start of the war in Gaza (and to be dropped on the highly dense area with a total area of 365 km2) said two U.S. officials briefed on an updated list of weapons shipments. Between the war's start last October and recent days, the United States has transferred at least 14,000 of the MK-84 2,000-pound bombs, 6,500 500-pound bombs, 3,000 Hellfire precision-guided air-to-ground missiles, 1,000 bunker-buster bombs, 2,600 air-dropped small-diameter bombs, and other munitions, according to the officials, who were not authorized to speak publicly.” All these bombs were dropped on the Gaza Strip, a highly dense area with a total area of 365 km2 and a population of 2.3M people mostly children and women! And the U.S. wants to broker a ceasefire!!!!

🇺🇸🤝🇺🇦 US Prepares $6 Billion Weapons Contracts for Ukraine According to Politico, the US is set to unveil a $6 billion weapons package for Ukraine. The comprehensive deal includes Patriot air defense munitions, artillery ammunition, drones, counter-drone weapons, and air-to-air missiles. Sources familiar with the planning indicate that the funds will be allocated under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, facilitating contracts with American defense firms to produce new equipment for Ukraine. Despite the substantial investment, the delivery timeline suggests that the equipment won't reach Ukraine for several years. Ask your government to speed up weapons deliveries to stop the genocide of Ukrainians. The ruscists should be held accountable for their crimes. President, American University Kyiv/ Co-President Thayer Leadership at West Point/Special Advisor to Ukraine Armed Forces Commander In Chief 5/2022-3/2023 (volunteer).Primary advocate for cluster munitions for Ukraine.
Not only is Lithuania going to withdraw from the naive and foolish Cluster Munitions Convention, but Lithuania will be acquiring cluster munitions! This will make NATO stronger in the defense. Ukraine now has all the types of artillery fired cluster munitions, howitzer and HiMaRs fired rockets and missiles. All NATO countries and also Ukraine should also have air to ground JSOW cluster munitions. This is a sea change from two years ago when I first advised Ukraine to request cluster munitions. Not only is Lithuania removing herself from the Cluster Munitions Convention but also pushing Norway to remove herself. This is exactly what I have been advocating for two years. This will make NATO stronger.
Lithuania should consider buying cluster munitions – president’s adviser

The U.S. has agreed to arm dozens of F-16 jet fighters being sent to Ukraine with American-made missiles and other advanced weapons, addressing a longstanding question about the Western aircraft. Denmark and the Netherlands are preparing to send the first American-made F-16s to Ukraine this summer, and more will come later from Belgium and Norway. But until now the source of critical weapons for the planes has been unresolved. Though the Pentagon has limited inventory and production capability, it will supply the F-16s with air-to-ground munitions, precision-guidance kits for bombs and advanced air-to-air missiles in sufficient quantities to meet Ukraine’s most urgent needs, a senior U.S. official said. “We are confident that we will be able to supply all of those [weapons], at least the critical volumes that they need,” the U.S. official said. The weapons for the F-16 that the U.S. is sending include AGM-88 HARM air-to-ground missiles; the extended-range versions of Joint Direct Attack Munition kits, which convert unguided bombs to smart weapons; and so-called small diameter bombs that explode with a tight blast radius. In addition, the U.S. will send advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles, known as AMRAAM, and AIM-9X short-range air-to-air missiles for the jets. See https://lnkd.in/g8qD3Kbx
