There was a good opportunity to reflect on the changes that have occurred over the past 10 years for research in Finland, and what the situation in #Sweden, Japan and Korea is at the moment, together with Michel Silvestri, Tomohiro Kuroda, and Lee Sangheon. "Finland’s robust framework for secondary data use positions it as a role model for the EHDS. Belgium and the Netherlands lead push for need-driven research priorities involving patients Introducing the NEED Method The KCE, in collaboration with Sciensano, introduced the NEED method at the conference, a systematic approach to identify and prioritise unmet health-related needs. "The ultimate objective is to set up a database with scientific evidence on the unmet health-related needs in different diseases for use by different types of stakeholders, such as investors in R&D, regulators, pricing and reimbursement agencies, and policymakers," Irina Cleemput, NEED project lead told Euractiv. "It's a very artificial methodology that has the advantage of being able to come up with 'clean data' but the disadvantage of not reflecting needs at patient level. Because in real life, diseases do not have needs, patients have needs. PITTER data online! 4,5 years ago, we introduced a new procedure to reimburse molecular predictive tests simultaneously with targeted medication. Next to high quality requirements, one of the features was the mandatory registration of the test results in the PITTER registry. The Ivonescimab vs Pembrolizumab overblown positive data did not talk about: Only China-data No Racial Diversity No Overall Survive Rate Data Using Global Health Status as a Metric (Intentionally?) The 20% PFS drop in month 1 isn't explained well (if not at all)... Ivonescimab (Akeso-SummitTx) and Pembrolizumab (Merkc's Keytruda) are at the media centre stage since the news broke out yesterday. Till we have US trials data, the nearly $5b market cap increase in 2 days has to be taken as grain of salt and react cautiously with this uptrend happening. From what is known, FDA usually analyses data from different trial sites, looking for differences and consistency, thus conducting a reviewing of several clinical datasets. Let's wait and see... Summit Tx still needs to win in overall survival. And will that happen IN the US?

ISPOR has released its 2024-2025 Top 10 HEOR Trends Report. This is the fifth publication for this initiative that is now published as a biennial report. Real-world evidence (RWE) appears again as the #1 trend, followed by Drug Pricing and Artificial Intelligence. Although much has been done in LATAM countries to develop these concepts and the science behind them during the last 25-30 years, I realize how much room there still exists for improvement!
