𝗧𝗵𝗲 IPBES 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁: 𝗮 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁-𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀! IPBES, the global platform for biodiversity and ecosystems services, launched its first Transformative Change report a few weeks ago. Over 3 years, 165 IPBES experts from all over the world analyzed the 5 interconnected crises—biodiversity, water, food, health, and climate change. Their findings emphasize the urgent need for a holistic approach to policymaking. 📚 Far from kicking wide-open doors, the #TransformativeChange Assessment Summary for Policymakers report explains what transformative change is, how it happens, and how necessary it is for a fair and sustainable world. The report offers 70 solutions across 10 key action areas, providing decision-makers with the most comprehensive scientific insights to date. It's a call to action to shape a sustainable future. The question is, will we, as humans, be willing to make these changes? Did you read the report yet? What do you think about it? https://lnkd.in/ewtw3KMY #Biodiversity #ClimateAction #Sustainability

Not exactly light holiday reading... ’Slow Down’ by Kohei Saito is subtitled ‘How regrowth communism can save the Earth’! And, whilst not exactly a 'page-turner', it’s a fascinating insight as to the way capitalism is the inexorable and irreversible tide that is driving climate change - and how it will continue do so despite our best efforts. With nods to Kate Raworth’s ‘Doughnut Economics’, Kohei Santo asks the existential question: ‘Why are we constantly and blindly pursuing economic growth?’ The book also cast light on how the ‘Global North’ shifts the environmental costs to the ‘Global South’ and maintains that this is the reason why the environmental crisis has become as bad as it has, with the rich, industrialised countries largely ‘ignoring’ the real costs and implications of growth and development which are elsewhere and invisible to them A recommended holiday read for climate change activists, environmentalists and would-be neo-marxists everywhere Paul Wagner Nicole Pagels Patrick Richards Rob Holmes

🌍 Breaking Together: A Radical Approach to Climate and Societal Challenges 🌱 In this fascinating and deep conversation, Jem Bendell reflects on his journey from corporate sustainability to advocating for a transformative response to climate change and societal collapse. Known for his groundbreaking paper, Deep Adaptation Jem introduced a framework that challenges the sustainability movement and calls for preparation for societal breakdown. Now, through his new framework, Breaking Together, Jem emphasizes community resilience and eco-libertarianism as pathways to navigate the complexities of our future. This approach highlights the importance of collective action, localized solutions. 🔑 Key Takeaways: The traditional sustainability movement hasn't met the urgency of the climate crisis. Deep Adaptation reframes the narrative, encouraging honest conversations about collapse. Eco-libertarianism contrasts with eco-authoritarianism, promoting empowerment over control. Building community resilience is essential for navigating societal disruption. Personal experiences often shape bold, transformative worldviews. True fulfillment lies in inquiry, creativity, and connection, not just longevity. Prof. Bendell’s journey reminds us of the importance of reclaiming control over our resources and challenging dominant societal narratives to create localized and meaningful change. His work inspires a collective approach to address the realities of our time. 📘 Learn More: Jem's latest book, Breaking Together, outlines his collapse-based political framework and provides actionable insights. 🎓 Explore his course, Leading Through Collapse, here: https://lnkd.in/ed9vTBsp.
