What is person-centred care? The SPECAL method is rooted in an understanding of person-centred care. Person-centred care provides us with a set of principles which are applicable to any human being, regardless of age, race, creed, medical condition, and so on. The state of well-being for any person requires four global subjective states (feelings) to be present. SPECAL presents these subjective states using the acronym P-A-S-T: Personal Worth, Agency, Social Ease & Trust The first of these states is a sense of Personal Worth - every human being must feel good about themselves in some way. #dementiacare #personcentredcare #SPECALmethod #understandingdementia #personalworth #agency #socialease #trust #contenteddementia

Empowering Lives through Holistic Care | Nursing Support Coordinator & Director of Holistic Care Buddy2 | NDIS Provider | Supporting Individuals with Disabilities
🌟 Inspirational Story Alert! 🌟 I'm excited to share a remarkable blog post titled "Escaping from a Care Home," written by a brave individual from our community. This powerful narrative sheds light on the challenges and triumphs of transitioning from institutional care to independent living as a ventilator-dependent quadriplegic. 🔍 Here’s a glimpse: "After sixteen years in a care home, the journey to independence was not just a change of residence, but a rebirth of spirit, supported by the incredible teams at Critical Second and Holistic Care Buddies." This story is a testament to: 🔹 Resilience in the face of daunting challenges. 🔹 The transformative power of dedicated support teams. 🔹 The undeniable human spirit striving for independence and quality of life. 🤔 How do we ensure that such transitions are not just possible, but accessible to everyone in need? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences related to this important topic. https://lnkd.in/gxsN_Vih Let’s spread this inspiring story and discuss how we can all contribute to making such life-changing transitions a reality for more people. #InspirationalStories #HealthcareHeroes #IndependentLiving #CommunitySupport

You can't look after anyone else if you don't look after yourself. ✔️ Remember self-care isn't selfish ✔️ Build your support network ✔️ Don't be hard on yourself Easier said than done - right? You've got work, school, medical appointments, and other family members to look after. It's a lot! The biggest tip we can give you as a parent, is to try and schedule some 'you time' each week. Whether it's 10-15 mins each morning, or 1 hour once a week - you need time to refresh and re-energise so you can function at your best. Do you make time for yourself each week? What do you do? #parenting #parentingtips #autismparenting #selfcare #support #motivation #ndisservice #ndissupport #ignitiongamers

Confession #116 : I'm a 34-year-old man with my own grocery business. I've been married for seven years and have a wonderful, supportive family, even though they're quite orthodox. When my wife and I had our first child, a baby girl, everyone was happy, though they would have preferred a boy. I didn't care about the gender; I loved our daughter deeply. Four years into our marriage, my wife became pregnant again, and we had another beautiful baby girl. This time, my family's joy was muted, and I felt conflicted. I had hoped for a boy to complete our family, but I accepted that God had different plans. For the past two years, I've been feeling the pressure from my family to try for a son. They constantly urge me to attempt for another baby, and even my friends joke about it, offering unsolicited advice and making light of the situation. I, too, would like to have a son, but I'm afraid of the possibility of having another daughter and the disappointment it might bring to my family. Adoption is not an option for us due to my family's beliefs. I'm torn and unsure about what to do. Should I try for another child, or should I come to terms with our current family dynamics? I'm seeking advice on how to navigate this situation.
