Last Friday marked the start of the #ROOMMATE project and the Medea Project team participated at the Kick off meeting at Fondazione Don Gnocchi in Florence. It was an important day where we had the opportunity to meet our project partners in person, exchange ideas and outline the work of the next two years together. 🆕 What is the #ROOMMATE project about? The #ROOMMATE ecosystem aims to overcome current barriers to the implementation of technological solutions in the continuum of rehabilitation, addressing the issues of #accessibility, #sustainability, and #equity of care for all, based on three interrelated pillars: 1) the development and implementation of accessible, high quality and sustainable technological solutions at the patient’s bedside to promote their use in the continuum of rehabilitation care; 2) the adoption of a human centred approach based on patients, caregivers and health professionals’ involvement in the study co-design and implementation to target solutions to their expressed needs and wishes; 3) expert coaching of end users towards health and digital literacy and technology adoption throughout the pathway. #ROOMMATE is relevant to the goals of the #THCS as we aim to identify and develop innovative technological solutions aimed at relieving the pressure on health and care facilities, proposing a profound transformation of current stroke rehabilitation pathways based on the complementary expertise of the Consortium. #Medea #Kickoffmeeting #ROOMMATE #EuropeanPartnership #THCS

𝑹𝑹𝑫’𝒔 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝑻𝑯𝑪𝑺 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒋𝒆𝒄𝒕 𝑹𝑶𝑶𝑴𝑴𝑨𝑻𝑬 𝒔𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒂 𝒌𝒊𝒄𝒌-𝒐𝒇𝒇 𝒎𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒔𝒖𝒏-𝒅𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒉𝒆𝒅 𝑭𝒍𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆! Only a week after the start of the Tour de France in Florence it was time to launch the ROOMMATE project in the capital city of the Italian region of Tuscany. For this launch all partners from 4 EU countries (Italy, Swiss, Romania and the Netherlands) gathered in Florence at Fondazione Don Gnocchi. After a round of introduction and tour through the centre, there was time to prepare with each other the first activities of the project. The project acknowledges the need to focus our research on rehabilitation ecosystems as real contextualisation of technology in physical rehabilitation care is still lacking. Within ROOMMATE we address the barriers including sustainability issues, lack of accessibility, lack of appropriate infrastructure, and lack of digital skills of end users. Therefore the primary aim of ROOMMATE is to develop, implement and test a sustainable rehabilitation ecosystem, to innovate stroke rehabilitation pathways. ROOMMATE is our first project within the Transforming Health and Care Systems (#THCS) partnership, a cofund action under the Horizon Europe Programme. Within this project RRD will work mainly on the technical and organisational integration of the chosen healthcare technology. For a proper organisational integration we will together with all stakeholders, and we will develop patient journeys and service models. Both will also be the starting point for an extended societal impact assessments for two care systems (Italy and Romania). The following partners are part of the ROOMMATE consortium: * Fondazione Don Gnocchi (Florence, IT) * Medea Project (Florence, IT) * Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale from the Università degli Studi di Firenze (Florence, IT) * Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy (Bucharest, RO) * TU Delft (Delft, NL) * Roessingh Research and Development (Enschede, NL) * Emovo Care (Lausanne, CH) #project #kickoffmeeting #patientjourney #servicemodel #stakeholderinvolvement #societalimpact #healthcare #technology #rehabilitation #stroke

This week Co-Founder Peter Ward said farewell to Sweden and hello to Brisbane, Australia He presented an update on our #AI digital pathology development to COR-NTD at their meeting for the Pacific Islands. A hallway scanner demo was well received and garnered a lot of interest from some key stakeholders in the Pacific Islands NTDs community. Some key takeaways from our end include: 💰 Affordable and scalable diagnostics are a huge area of need, and so is the funding to support them 🤝 Cross-cutting and collaborative solutions and projects are critical 🤖 AI-based solutions can help bridge the gaps that exist - and are growing - in NTD diagnostics If you are an NTD program manager (particularly for STH, Schistosoma, and LF), a member of your Ministry of Health, or are involved in donation programs for NTDs, reach out and let's have a chat! Where can you find Peter next? 📍Southern Cross Conference | Sept 27-29 | Brisbane, Australia A key gathering on the latest advancements in tropical medicine. 📍 NNN Annual Conference | Oct 1-3 | Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Theme: "Collaboration for Change"—fostering global equity and strengthening community engagement in the fight against NTDs. 📍 ASTMH | Nov 13-17 | New Orleans, USA One of the largest gatherings on tropical health, connecting global stakeholders to advance innovation and policy. #corntd #corntdpacificislands #NTDs #healthequity #ai #startup #networking #collaborate
