Business Owner at Hope's Therapy Dogs. Providing emotional and mental health support through Animal Assisted Intervention + CPD accredited training for therapy dog partnerships.
🚨 UCLA researchers reveal a striking link between parents' childhood traumas (ACEs) and increased risks for their children. 😮 Adverse experiences like abuse, neglect, or loss of a parent heighten the likelihood of youth arrests and convictions. 📉 This highlights the urgent need for ACE prevention and interventions to break the cycle of trauma across generations. Dr. Elizabeth Barnert underscores the pivotal roles of doctors and policymakers in addressing childhood trauma and reshaping the justice system. 🩺👨⚖️ Positive childhood experiences aren't always enough to counterbalance ACEs, highlighting the complexity of trauma mitigation. 🤝 The study underscores the need for a shift towards empathy-driven solutions in public health and law enforcement. 💡 Hope's Therapy Dogs are on a mission to break the cycle by helping children navigate ACEs and create better future outcomes. 🐾 Our empathy-driven approach fosters resilience and healing in at-risk youth. 💡 Let's advocate for policies that prioritise prevention and support for vulnerable families. 🌟 #ACEs #YouthJustice #PublicHealth Read more here: https://rb.gy/qv2h9r 📰

In a new video from the AAP, Dr. Khadijia Tribié Reid talks about the importance of providing trauma-informed care and building trusted relationships with her patients and families, so that she can better support them through hard times: https://lnkd.in/eBEVuE4X

How to Help Your Young Male Clients Get Unstuck, Get Healthy, and Thrive with Elizabeth Jorgensen, CADC For young men, depression and anxiety often manifest in patterns of avoidance, withdrawal from school and social life, and displays of anger and aggression. What can appear to parents as poor or “bad” behaviors are often the telltale signs of severe distress. This workshop focuses on the unique presentation of boys when they are suffering, and explores how parents can open conversations with young men and how clinicians can engage them in treatment. https://lnkd.in/gE6QGXnG

Innovation is a community-driven and disciplined process of solving some of our most complex public health challenges. One leading example is a Children and Youth Resilience Challenge Phase 1 finalist, Geisinger, who developed "ACEs Screening at Well-Child Visits to Build Risk-Level Tailored Clinic to Community Response (ALLIANCE)." This project aims to: - Develop and evaluate an integrated solution for identifying families affected by or at risk for child maltreatment; - Provide tailored preventive counseling in clinical care; - Connect families to community resources to promote protective factors and prevent future maltreatment; and - Improve the mental health and resilience of the whole family.
