Understanding how extreme heat affects our bodies is crucial for public health. When exposed to high temperatures-#publicawarness our bodies lose fluids rapidly through sweating, leading to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. This can result in symptoms ranging from fatigue and weakness to more serious conditions like heat exhaustion, characterized by nausea, dizziness, and headache. Prolonged exposure or strenuous activity in extreme heat can cause heat cramps, painful muscle spasms due to electrolyte depletion. Heatstroke is the most severe consequence, marked by a body temperature above 40°C (104°F), confusion, unconsciousness, and potential organ damage, which requires immediate medical attention. Additionally, extreme heat puts strain on the cardiovascular system as the heart works harder to cool the body, increasing the risk of heart attacks and other cardiovascular emergencies.
