Comparison of the Outcomes of Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion and Cervical Disc Replacement for Cervical Disc Disease Comparison of Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) versus Cervical Disc Replacement (CDR) for Cervical Disc Disease Study Details: Researchers compared the radiological outcomes and development of heterotopic ossification (HO) in patients who underwent single-segment ACDF and CDR for cervical disc herniation to evaluate their impact on surgical success. Study Duration: January 2020 to June 2022 Study Location: Neurosurgery Department at Bozyaka Education and Research Hospital, Izmir, Turkiye Study Participants: Patients aged 18-70 with radicular neck pain and MRI-confirmed diagnosis of cervical disc disease were included. Patients with osteoporosis were excluded. Results: 56 patients underwent ACDF and 45 underwent CDR. Postoperative disc height increased in both groups. Heterotopic ossification (HO) was more prevalent following CDR during long-term follow-up. Conclusion: ACDF and CDR showed similar improvements in radiological measurements and pain relief. However, HO was more common following CDR during long-term follow-up. Keywords: Cervical disc replacement, Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, Spinal surgery techniques, Heterotopic ossification. Let’s talk about Overactive Bladder (OAB) and neuromodulation therapies. 🧐 OAB is a common condition, affecting 33 million adults in the United States alone. Symptoms of OAB tend to be more severe in females, and the overall prevalence increases with age. The International Continence Society (ICS) defines OAB as a group of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) that includes 'urgency, with or without urge incontinence, usually with increased frequency and nocturia.' Individuals with OAB often experience significant emotional distress and social isolation, which can greatly lower their quality of life. 📉 Currently, neuromodulation treatments for OAB primarily involve tibial nerve stimulation (TNS) and sacral nerve modulation (SNS). Tibial nerve stimulation involves stimulating the tibial nerve, which connects to the sacral nerves. This can be done using various devices and techniques, ranging from percutaneous methods, where a small needle electrode is placed near the ankle, to implantable devices that provide more sustained stimulation. Sacral nerve modulation, on the other hand, involves implanting a device in the lower back to provide continuous stimulation to the sacral nerves. This method can greatly improve symptoms but involves surgery and potential complications. At InnoCon Medical, we are developing a new patented neuromodulation solution, UCon, targeting the dorsal genital nerve (DGN), a nerve not yet utilized in existing therapies. Several studies have shown that stimulation of the dorsal penile/clitoral nerve (DGN) also benefits patients. Targeting this nerve offers a unique opportunity for on-demand stimulation, which is not possible with current sacral or tibial nerve stimulation techniques. Our UCon system is therefore highly unique & flexible, not only offering continuous and time-limited modes but also a unique urge stimulation mode. This approach has the potential to cater to a wide range of patient needs, making UCon a versatile solution in the field of neuromodulation. 💡 We are currently conducting clinical research to discuss these benefits credibly. Central serous chorioretinopathy (CSCR) is the 4th most common retinopathy after AMD, DR, and branch retinal vein occlusion. CSCR typically occurs in males in their 20s to 50s who exhibit acute or sub-acute central vision loss or distortion. The biomarkers of CSCR might be difficult to detect and might include: ✅ Subretinal fluid ✅Ellipsoid zone disruption ✅Fibrovascular RPE detachment ✅Double layer sign ✅Serous RPE detachment This is how some of the biomarkers of CSCR might look on the OCT. Altris AI recognizes 70 + biomarkers and retina pathologies including CSCR. If you want to start a free trial of the system in your clinic or optometry center, please contact Mark Braddon.

https://lnkd.in/gqawgwqM Article title: Atraumatic Acute Limb Ischemia: Clinical Presentation, Classifi cation, Assessment and Management- A Review Author(s): Nalaka Gunawansa Journal: International Journal of Vascular Surgery and Medicine Journal ISSN: 2455-5452 Abstract: Acute Limb Ischaemia (ALI) can be a devastating clinical emergency with potentially life or limb threatening consequences. The commonest aetiologies of ALI are traumatic, embolic or thrombotic. While traumatic ALI is fairly obvious in the trauma victim, embolic and thrombotic ALI may mimic other clinical conditions such as neurological disease which may cause delays in diagnosis. Immediate diagnosis, accurate assessment of limb viability and urgent intervention when needed play a crucial role in salvaging the affected limb and preventing a major amputation. Delay in diagnosis and intervention causes irreversible muscle ischaemia leading to eventual limb loss and potential systemic organ dysfunction due to associated lactic acidosis and other toxins. #Embolism #Thrombosis #Ischaemia #Thrombolysis #Amputation #Reperfusion #Angiology #BiochemistryOfBloodFluids #DiseasesOfTheCirculatorySystem #DiseasesOfTheLymphaticSystem #ArterialThrombosisAndEmbolism #Vasculitides #VasospasticDisorders #VenousDiseases #VenousThrombosis #ChronicVenousInsufficiency #VaricoseVeins #LymphaticDiseases #Lymphedema #BloodVesselFormation #HighBloodPressure #BloodAndHypertension #HeartAttack #BloodVesselPathology #Vasoconstriction #VascularImaging #VascularClots #AbdominalAorticAneurysms #Peertechz #PeertechzPublications #BlockageOfBloodVessels #CarotidEndarterectomy #BypassSurgeryForLegArteries #GangreneManagement #RoboticVascularSurgery #AortoIliacDisease #AorticAneurysmSurgery #AorticOcclusionSurgery #EmergencyVascularSurgery #VascularControl #TumorEmbolisation #VaricoseVeinsTreatment #LegUlcersTreatment #VascularDiseaseTreatment #MetabolicDisorders #ArterialOcclusiveDisease #AneurysmalDisease #LymphaticDisorders #ArterialDisease #VenousDisease #PulmonaryDisease #Cardiovascular #Neurovascular #Cerebrovascular #CerebralVascularDisease #VascularDiseaseSymptoms #PeripheralVascularDiseaseSymptoms #PeripheralVascularDiseaseTreatment #CarotidVascularDisease #RenalVascularDisease #HypertensiveVascularDisease #VascularHeartDisease #CollagenVascularDiseaseSymptoms #ArterioscleroticVascularDisease #CardiovascularDiseasePrevention #CirculatoryDiseases #CoronaryVascularDisease
