Celebrating 6 Years of Innovation at MedevPlus! 🎉 Today marks the 6th anniversary of MedevPlus, and what an incredible journey it has been! From our humble beginnings with just three passionate individuals, we have grown into a formidable team of 22 talented members. Over these years, we've embraced countless learning experiences and developed best-in-class products that set new standards in the industry. Highlights of Our 6th Year Journey : ◽ Remarkable Growth: Last year was phenomenal as we completed version 1 of our portable OCT IXanner 7vn. Its successful launch has garnered great traction and a positive market response. ◽ Pioneering Products: We have built two first-of-their-kind opto-mechanical products in Southeast Asia, pushing the boundaries of innovation in our field. ◽ Patent Achievements: Our team designed and built an integrating sphere from scratch, now out for patent. Additionally, we have seven patents in the pipeline and one already granted. ◽ Awards and Recognition: We are proud to have won the nasscom #emerge50 awards and finished in the top 100 at X-PITCH deeptech companies in the world 2023. These accolades reflect our commitment to excellence and innovation. ◽ New Milestones: This year, we moved to a new state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing facility, further empowering us to drive forward our mission and create groundbreaking products. Key to Our Success: Our continuous R&D efforts and collaborative approach have been instrumental in our growth. Had a great time at the 'Re-imagining the Future of Biopharma Digitalisation' event yesterday alongside Magdalena Tryka and Wiktoria Bulik! 🌐💼 Thanks to Accenture and UCL for organising the event with industry experts, leaders, and diverse perspectives on display. 🚀 Some of my key takeaways from the day were: 🎯 Small to medium-sized companies are generally focused on funding milestones (seed, Series A, etc.) with less focus on digital infrastructure. 🔍 Larger companies are prioritizing digital infrastructure, reflecting on the benefits this provides as they grow. Their focus now revolves more around seamless tech transfer, data accessibility, and interconnected systems. 🔗 A prevailing theme was the importance of setting up robust digital systems early on. While the benefits might not be immediate, they become evident as companies grow, especially when eyeing later, future milestones. 🧬 All in all, it was exciting to connect with growing Biotech and Pharma companies in person, hearing about their teething issues and seeing where Opvia fits in. Key takeaway [for me] so far from this morning’s panel on how to balance patient-centric #digitaltherapeutics with scalable profitability can be summarised by the phrase “Build and they will come”. If you build a product that is intrinsically engaging and keeps patient adherent to the programme, then the clinical outcomes will show themselves, product value can be seen, and uptake will come and with it the money. And how to make a product engaging? For Hannes Klöpper of HelloBetter , it’s about getting patients involved as much as possible in the product development, get their feedback, use it to make necessary tweaks to improve the technology . Important lessons I’ve learned from mentors and experience: 1) Spend time in Gemba. 2) Drive for efficiency. Always ask how you can simplify the unnecessary or inefficient. Be bold. 3) Benchmark “best in class”, small and large companies. Challenge “the way we’ve always done it”. 4) Complacency Kills. I continued my learning today at ventureLAB’s MedTech panel led by seasoned experts who shared invaluable insights: - David Van Slingerland (CEO, Sterling Industries) - Michael Do (Founder, MedEssist Ltd.) - Rohan Jacob (CEO, ActivateStaff) Highlights from the Session: 1. Sterling Industries: Spearheaded by David Van Slingerland, they are pioneering agile manufacturing to expedite medical device production, significantly reducing time to market. 2. MedEssist💊 | Transforming Pharmacy⚕️with Tech and AI 🏥: Under Michael Do's leadership, transforming community pharmacy with digital tools, enhancing care delivery during critical periods like the COVID-19 pandemic. 3. ActivateStaff: Rohan Jacob showcased how his company is optimizing staffing solutions in healthcare to improve operational efficiency and patient care. 🔍 My Key Takeaway: Maintaining existing workflows while integrating new technologies is crucial. Disrupting established systems can create significant friction, leading to extended sales cycles as healthcare providers adapt and validate new systems. Yesterday, Mette and I had the pleasure of sharing our insights on the collaboration between NordInsight and Nordsjællands Hospital on the Life Science Stage at TechBBQ. These two worlds typically don’t mix well - startups thrive in fast-paced environments with a "fail fast" mentality, while hospitals prioritize high standards, thorough processes, and rely on proven, mature technologies. However, we’ve shown that it is possible to bridge the gap meaningfully. The healthcare sector increasingly depends on innovative technologies to optimize workflows and free up time. With staffing shortages persisting, it’s crucial that we find ways to better support the healthcare professionals we already have.
