👁 Rare Disease Spotlight: Amblyopia👁 A vision development disorder where one eye fails to achieve normal visual acuity, even with the help of prescription lenses. It's not due to any eye disease but results from abnormal visual input during early childhood. 🔍 Key Indicators: Reduced Vision in One Eye: The affected eye may not see details as clearly as the other eye. Strabismus (Misaligned Eyes): Amblyopia is often associated with strabismus, where the eyes do not align properly. 🚨 Early Intervention Matters: Amblyopia is most effectively treated in childhood. Early detection and intervention, usually before the age of 7, offer the best chances of successful treatment. This makes awareness crucial for parents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. 👁️ #AmblyopiaAwareness #EyeHealth #ChildrensVision #VisionCare

When people move into aged care homes #psychotropic use increases. In Australia 61% of people are prescribed them in their first three months. Older people with dementia in aged care get #antipsychotics three times more often than those without. The new #PsychotropicMedsCCS aims to reduce the inappropriate use of these medicines in #agedcare, prioritising non-medicine strategies and the use of behaviour support plans.
