Today marks 29 years since the genocide in my hometown of Srebrenica. Just a few months ago in May, the UN General Assembly designated July 11 as the International Day of Reflection and Commemoration of the 1995 Genocide in Srebrenica. This year's commemoration is especially poignant as this is the first time that the full truth about Srebrenica is recognized internationally. https://lnkd.in/gvFFcMM2

"LOOK S.M.A., NO Amms!" (cash-out construction loan take-out) Music to the ears when a lifeco friend of 20-years calls with a fresh, eager & aggressive separately managed account (S.M.A.) seeking 'special'. The masterfully-executed Orland Ridge BFR asset, comprised of 294-units averaging 1,988 SF, was exactly what this 'doctor' (err, the large foreign public pension fund making VERY FIRST mortgage investment in U.S.) ordered. While the developer and their private pension fund JV partner were impressed by the 5yr IO C.O.C.O. (Certificate of Occupancy Cash-Out) financing we delivered, the ultimate compliment came when the construction lender, a regional powerhouse bank, introduced us to many of their other borrowers seeking same. 2024 promises to be an exciting & action-packed year for mortgage bankers with access to unique capital solutions. FHFA announced on Tuesday that Freddie Mac & Fannie Mae will be each allocated $70b of production cap for 2024. This reflects a slight decrease from 2023’s production cap, however, is a strong indication from the regulator that FM/FNMA must play a key role in providing liquidity to the multi-housing space in 2024 as headwinds pursuit in the banking sector. At least 50% of 2024’s originations must be “Mission-Driven”, or naturally affordable (rents vs. AMI), which will drive the best economic terms. JLL is a direct originator/agency lender and is not a broker. We are currently active on several financings across the country and are seeing aggressive pricing and structure.
