This article explores the potential benefits of point-of-care testing in the ED. Price and St. John provide a detailed description of how to approach four common aspects of point-of-care testing (POCT) in the ED, specifically, the challenges of adopting POCT, the impact of POCT on clinical decisions, the impact of POCT on operational decision making and outcomes and the impact of POCT on resource allocation decisions. The key to successfully using POCT in the ED lies in demonstrating the diagnostic accuracy of the technology and immediately acting on the results as they become available. With CADScor System physicians can quickly and easily rule-out significant CAD at point of care with 96% Confidence (Negative Predictive Value). #Acarix #CADScorSystem #coronaryarterydisease #CAD #pointofcare #ED #chestpain #digitalhealth https://lnkd.in/djQridkz

BD announced a new mini draw method for blood testing - what's the difference between the old and 'the new'? THEY want to imply it is the 'size of the sample'. LOOK closely, it is the WAY in which they are collecting the blood. GRAVITY! SEE the special hand mount that the patient's hand is placed on for this draw? This GRAVITY technique was FIRST discovered, described and written in 1994 by Vein Access Technologies! Many important entities in the industry knew this from 1994 through 2013 - but none acknowledged VAT. Now they are using the technique. The real shame......they sat on this information for 27 years...depriving patients of a more comfortable AND accurate point-of-care blood collection and testing. This 21POC Technique applies to 'blood sugar finger sticks' and also the pro-time (blood thinner) finger sticks that are done millions of times, every day, by millions of patients. Cardiac arrhythmias are a common problem encountered in the intensive care unit and represent a major source of morbidity. Yesterday was a great interactive session conducted by Dr. Praveen Vijhani here at DHR Health about arrhythmias and an interesting thing which grasped my attention was the one where we got to know about different ion channels and their functions. It was a great take away from the class and definitely helped for a better understanding on how different classes of antiarrhythmics works like for example how class 1b are best indicated for post MI patients and different indications and contraindications for each class. #usmle #step1 #step2 #step3 #ecfmg #oet #medicalstudent #observership #clinicalrotations #usce #electives #clerkships #dhrhealth #internalmedicine #match25 #img #internationalmedicalgraduate #nrmp #nrmpregistration #icu #interviews #reseearch #criticalcaremedicine #iculife #f

Intersting cllincal skills data Micro-MST kit for PICC insertion in neonates can improve first-attempt and overall insertion success rates and reduce catheter-related complications, leading to unplanned removal, therapy failure, and fewer cases of CLABSI. The microMST kit is a safe and effective approach to PICC insertion, and it has become popular among VA practitioners. However, further study is required to demonstrate the superiority of this insertion technique over conventional approaches file:///C:/Users/adnan/Downloads/fped-12-1395395%202.pdf
