More than half of financial workers have witnessed fraud, yet four in five stay silent. Why? Due to the fear of recrimination. We don’t think that’s right. Whistleblowers are heroes, but they are often vilified and victimized for speaking up. The derogatory labels used against them have the power to ruin lives, and make it less likely future whistleblowers will come forward to tell the truth. We’ve partnered with three heroic whistleblowers, Sherron Watkins, Jennifer Griffith, CFE, and Sarah Carver, CFE, ADR, to reclaim the hurtful words used against them and remove their power to hurt them and other whistleblowers in the future. Whistleblowers aren’t snitches…they’re heroes that deserve to be protected and we hope to encourage more of them to stand up and speak out. During fraud week, we thought it important to highlight investment fraud, also known as financial grooming, relationship-investment fraud or pig butchering. It often begins with a promise of romance or riches that is anything but true. We’ve developed an infographic to raise awareness about these scams and offer insights into how you can take decisive action. https://lnkd.in/eYq2_xtn #fraud week #scam #PigButchering

When whistleblowers are labeled as troublemakers and traitors, it’s no surprise that most people are too scared to report wrongdoing. There aren’t nearly enough protections in place for those willing to come forward. Too often, whistleblowers are villainized for doing nothing more than standing up and saying “this is wrong, and I’m going to do something about it.” That’s why I’m reclaiming the negative language that the public has used against whistleblowers for too long. Whistleblowers are not traitors, they are heroes and they deserve protection. I've partnered with Medius to help encourage whistleblowers to help tackle white collar fraud. Watch the video and learn more in the link below. #AD #BigHeroSnitch #Medius

Former Copper now going on my own - let me help create that healthy work/sport culture that supports your goals
Such a powerful post here by Sherron Speaking truth to power is fraught with danger but can be made easier in cultures that invest in giving people responsibility to act when they notice behaviours or actions that are harmful. This is why peer intervention requires both a bottom up and top down approach. It’s everyone’s business to act not just leaders.

Leadership and ethics advocate, known as the Enron whistleblower. Internationally recognized speaker on the topics of ethics, corporate governance, organizational behavior, and the toxic label of whistleblower.
Speaking truth to power is risky. Those in power tend to attack the truth teller, which works to silence anyone else who wants to speak up. That’s why I’m standing up to reclaim the negative words used against whistleblowers to take away their power to hurt others in the future. Whistleblowers are not snitches, they are heroes and they deserve protection. I've partnered with Medius to help encourage whistleblowers to help tackle white collar fraud. #AD #BigHeroSnitch #Medius

Leading Integrity Whistleblowers are heroes of integrity, conscientious protectors, with a strong moral compass. They deserve to be recognised as national heroes/heroines in the same way as the best veterans. When we start awarding national medals to whistleblowers, we will know that integrity matters. While they continue to be persecuted, with no legal protections, we know that wrongdoers have a green light; a charter for corruption.
