We launched our 2024 Financial Census at Medius this week, and some of the results are eye-opening. I’m particularly interested in the impact of deepfakes on the profession. A major bugbear of mine is how absolutely huge figures are reported in the media, when the sums involved are so large that it's hard for people to comprehend just how much money is actually being talked about. You may have read stories that the UK Govt. has lost £21 billion to fraud (alone) since the start of the pandemic. To be honest, it doesn't even seem to have been that big a story? The current credit score system is a poor proxy to assess risk: 1. Inaccurate Reporting • (1/4 consumers identified errors on their credit reports that might affect their credit scores.) 2. Limited Scope • (22% of adults are credit 'thin' or 'invisible' or lacking sufficient financial history to have a valid credit score.) 3.
