A basic game system, projector and climbing wall combine to create a true test of strength, speed and agility. Other combinations of physical and XR technologies I've tried include a Virtual Reality Cycling system that allows you to bike anywhere in the world (or even ride a flying horse through fantasy mountainscapes!) and an augmented reality boxing system that pits you against gigantic robotic opoonents. What all these have in common is they distract the player almost entitely from the physical discomfort and exhaustion of the excercise itself, allowing longer, more enjoyable and more beneficial training sessions. This is one example of augmented reality being applied to more traditional physical activities - in this case created by AR climbing specialists Valo Motion As you can see, here it is also teaching the player faster responses and more varied techniques than a traditional bouldering session would - and attracts new participants who might not otherwise be drawn to the sport. EHF Heads of Refereeing Convention Excellent event run by the EHF in Vienna, with all the Handball National Federations. It was a pleasure to be involved and share my experience on how National Federations should approach Video Replay. “How we can optimize the use of VR?” “How we can achieve success in the human interaction during all the VR practical process?” “What are the VR challenges?” “The importance of the perspective!” “The difference between interpretation and factual decisions!” These were some of the subjects that we discuss and the final conclusions were: 1. Technology is not against the Referees, is to help them; 2. The final decision will be always from the Referees; 3. The challenge is to know how we should approach and use VR for the benefit of refereeing and the sport. Thanks George S. I completely understand the concern, but I want to assure you that human players will always be cherished for their unique skills. The unpredictability of a well-placed shot, the raw emotion on the court, and the spontaneous missteps are all elements that AI can never truly replicate.
