Coarctation of the aorta. The narrowing appears to begin at the level of the isthmus, becoming narrower after the left subclavian artery. Looks like a bovine aortic arch with a coarctation (https://lnkd.in/d2pE3yWA).
Morton's neuroma
It is a benign growth of nerve tissue that occurs between the toes, usually between the third and fourth toes.
Symptoms:
Pain or discomfort in the ball of the foot or toes
Burning or tingling sensations
Numbness or feeling of walking on a marble
Pain worsens with activity or wearing tight shoes
Relief from pain when removing shoes or massaging the foot
Causes and risk factors:
1-Repetitive pressure or irritation to the nerve
2-Tight or poorly fitting shoes
3- High heels or shoes with narrow toe boxes
4- Activities that involve running or jumping
5- Flat feet or other foot deformities
6- Aging
Key diagnostic points:
✔ Pain or tenderness in the ball of the foot or toes
✔ Positive Mulder's sign
✔ - Relief from pain with injection of a local anesthetic
✔ - Imaging tests to rule out other conditions
Management plan:
➡ Appropriate footwear should limit nerve compression: Choosing shoes with a wide toe box and adequate cushioning can help reduce pressure on the affected nerve.
➡ Orthotics are prescribed for pain relief: Custom orthotic devices can help support the foot's arch and reduce pressure on the affected nerve, potentially relieving pain.
➡ Steroid injections are standard pain-relieving procedures: Corticosteroid injections can help reduce inflammation and relieve pain. However, they are usually used as a temporary measure and not a long-term solution.
➡ TENS and Shockwave therapy assist with pain management: Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and shockwave therapy are non-invasive treatments that can help manage pain.
➡ Manipulation and mobilization of the other foot and ankle joints decrease pain: Manipulative therapies and mobilization techniques can help improve the function of the foot and ankle joints, potentially reducing pain associated with Morton's neuroma.
➡ Strengthening exercises program for the toe flexors and the intrinsics assist with muscle activation during the gait cycle: Strengthening exercises can help improve the strength and stability of the foot muscles, which may improve the gait cycle and reduce pain.
