If you know me, you know that I love working with medical residents. Yesterday I had the pleasure of facilitating an improv workshop with the pediatric residents at Advocate Children's Hospital in Oak Lawn, IL. What a fun group! They gave it their all and had a great time doing it. Improv is such an effective tool to teach emotional intelligence, teamwork, communication and mental flexibility. You can see that it’s not your typical workshop. #medicalimprov #experientialimprov #improv #improvtraining #worplacewellness #workplacewellbeing #reducingburnout #physicianwellbeing #healthcareadministration #healthcareburnoutprevention #emotionalintelligence #healthyworkplace

Incredible insights in this video! Bullying has such a severe impact on children's mental health making it crucial to implement prevention techniques and healthy coping mechanisms for those affected. In fact, it’s impact on mental health is so striking that the NCBI found that children and adolescents who experience bullying face a 2.77 times higher risk of depression compared to those who do not. In fact, even those who engage in bullying behavior themselves face a 1.73 times higher risk of depression. These statistics highlight the urgent need for effective strategies to tackle bullying and its harmful effects on mental well-being. By implementing proactive measures to prevent bullying and providing support for those affected, we can create safer environments for children to thrive and protect their mental health.
Did you know 28% of children aged 11-18 have reported being bullied? Join Dr. Celia Heppner, Pediatric Psychologist and Associate Professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center, as she discusses signs of bullying and effective strategies for handling it. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3wBZhOn

As we continue to modernize sport, we, the adults, are going to need to rethink how we engage kids through sport. Traditional sport is linear, based on outdated structures, led by well-intentioned but too often ill equipped volunteers who aren't trained in child development. Sport tends to be risk adverse so likely not willing to heed the advice below. As we limp towards Sport 2.0, we will need to unlearn bad habits and limited thinking as we simultaneously stay open to new ways of designing a modern, healthy and values driven culture. Our podcast covers a lot of these topics so have a listen and if you want us to examine a specific issue let us know at hello@sportlaw.ca. Let's get busy intentionally designing Sport 2.0. #sportlaw #sportopia
The Canadian Pediatric Society just released a position statement on the importance of outdoor risky play! https://ow.ly/xgfB50QuTmm “Risk is inherent to free play. When children play spontaneously, they may choose to push boundaries and test limits. Risky play encourages creative, spontaneous play, first by eliminating hazards, then by supporting risk-taking that is chosen and controlled by the child and appropriate to her/his experience and ability. […] Systematic reviews focused on the influence of nature and outdoor play on children’s health found positive relationships with physical activity, well-being, and with lowering perceived stress.” Lawson Foundation congratulates Canadian Paediatric Society and our many grantees' whose contributions helped lay the path to this #outdoorplay milestone.

Guiding all ages to plan to leave well. In person/remote support at all stages of terminal illness. Die well, free of regret & leave loved ones with peace of mind. Online planning courses. Death Becomes Her Podcast
“Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?” --Henry David Thoreau Check out this great video (4 minutes) produced by Cleveland Clinic highlighting the power of empathy. Empathy is a force that transcends words and actions, reaching into the core of our shared humanity. It's the bridge that connects hearts, allowing us to understand and feel the emotions of others as if they were our own. In a world marked by division, empathy has the power to heal wounds, foster connections, and inspire compassionate action. It enables us to see beyond our differences, to recognize the common struggles and joys that unite us. As we embrace empathy, we support those around us and enrich ourselves. Empathy can create a ripple effect of kindness and understanding that can transform everyone we touch. #clevelandclinic #empathymatters #caregivers #hospicecare #humanconnection #terminalillness
