I am a venture builder helping start-ups accelerate, enter new markets, raise funds, find partners & build their brands
When you sell into retail and have a team in the field it is wise to keep your finger on the pulse and do a market visit once in a while. You identify problems more easily, motivate the distributors and their respective sales teams and strengthen the relationship with local retailers. If you see the CEO of McDonalds fry burgers in an outlet once a year you know why it is important to work on the frontline where you interact directly with your company's customers. Find out my views on the topic and my tips on how to ensure every visit achieves maximum results. https://lnkd.in/eFkSJPSd #fmcg #consumergoods #fmcgbyalex #fmcgmasterclass #alexdevries #marketvisits #salesmanagement

LATA MENON is one of KMC’s Regional Sales Directors. She is responsible for our business in the Middle East, Turkey, India, and Southern Africa 🌍 Meeting with customers and a network of distributors across a vast geographical area is a large part of the job. One that Lata enjoys. - I travel in a very diverse region with a wide spectrum of rich cultures. While the diversity is somewhat unique and interesting, it also requires a fair amount of deciphering and maneuvering around. Being from India, cultural diversity is nothing new to Lata: - You soon learn not to take everything for what it seems and try and align your expectations with reality. It all adds flavor to the job, just like all the different cuisines across the region. - Naturally, there is lots of travel over great distances involved. This can sometimes be physically demanding as factories are often located far from cities and airports. - Being a woman in a region where most decision-makers are men is not a big challenge, though. Having been around in the region for some years, I meet a great deal of respect, in almost all business interactions. - Another aspect I enjoy is the sense of fulfillment and excitement, while picking up a product at a supermarket and knowing that one of our products is on a customer’s ingredients label. Yes, my colleagues and I do check that sort of thing 😉 - I am also very proud of working with such a versatile product as our potato starch. I’m always excited to tell people about it, and people are often excited to learn about it. It’s simply fascinating what you can do with a potato. - Being part of a fast-growing organization is exciting as well. So much is happening, and we are growing at a fairly rapid pace. Yet, I still meet the same down-to-earth charm and Danish hygge when visiting the headquarters in Brande and interacting with colleagues. - It feels good being a part of this growth story. #WorkingAtKMC #PotatoStarch #KMC
