MD (General Medicine) - Founder of Dhruthi Healthcare Services, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh | Pursuing Affordable & Accessible Healthcare for All.
Sometimes, a small cut or light burn can become life-threatening. Hemophilia, a rare condition where the body is unable to clot blood properly due to a deficiency in specific clotting factors, poses significant challenges and risks for those affected. Individuals with hemophilia may experience abnormal or excessive bleeding, which can be life-threatening in certain cases. Symptoms vary among individuals but may include bleeding from the mouth and gums, frequent nosebleeds, bleeding into the joints, and other indications. While hemophilia cannot be cured, early detection and proper management can significantly improve the quality of life for those living with the condition. Thankfully, the prevalence rate in India is 0.1 per 1 lakh population which is 13 times lower than the USA. At Dhruthi Healthcare, we stand in solidarity with the hemophilia community, offering comprehensive care and support to those in need. Let's strive to increase access to specialized care, raise awareness about the importance of early detection, and promote research efforts aimed at advancing treatment options. #WorldHemophiliaDay #RareDiseaseAwareness #SupportHemophiliaCommunity #DhruthiHealthcare

#rarediseaseday Rare diseases, a globally ignored health concern, include Sickle Cell Anemia, disproportionately affecting tribal populations. On Rare Disease Day, I highlighted the challenges faced by SCA patients, often leading to kidney and liver failure. Rural Maharashtra, grappling with India's third-highest burden, lacks specialized treatment. Despite India's 2047 goal to eliminate SCA, rural areas suffer, causing deformities and death. Government hospitals lack hematologists and nephrologists, compelling patients to sell jewellery for private treatment. Maharashtra's lone fetal genetic testing center faces accessibility issues, with pregnant women forced to endure 12-14 hour bus journeys. Link: https://lnkd.in/gg-rbuvC #raredisease

🌟 Addressing Maternal and Child Mortality in Empowered Action Group! In India, there exists a special group, formed by the government of India, consisting of the few states considered backward socioeconomically. This organization is called EAG (Empowered Action Group States) as it is necessary to pay particular attention because they are most lacking in socio-demographic indices. Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) and Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) are two critical indicators of a country's healthcare system and overall well-being. According to studies, the public health system of EAG states is characterized by insufficient health infrastructures. Despite these efforts and policy reforms, maternal and reproductive health is becoming an unacceptable burden in India. Our study focussed on the comparison of mortality of mothers and infants in Empowered Action Group states of EAG States of India. It analyzed the key determinants of maternal and infant mortality rates in EAG states of India from 2001-2020. The results from the project suggest that the mortality rates have been reduced considerably in the past 2 decades implying that the schemes implemented by the government have made an impact in reducing mortalities of both mothers and infants. The Three factors that can bring a major change in mortality rates are: 1. Women's Literacy : Educated women are more likely to have access to information about maternal health care and family planning, and they are more likely to follow medical advice. As a result, they are less likely to experience complications during pregnancy and childbirth. 2. Number of Hospitals: Increased access to hospitals can lead to better maternal health care. Women who live in areas with more hospitals are more likely to have access to prenatal care, skilled birth attendants, and emergency obstetric care. These services can help to prevent and treat complications during pregnancy and childbirth, which can reduce MMR. 3. State GDP: A growing state GDP provides the financial means to invest in healthcare infrastructure, education, and social programs that collectively contribute to improved maternal and infant health outcomes, ultimately reducing mortality rates. In summary, Educating mothers about the benefits they would receive from the health facilities and the care required for healthy mothers and infants. Healthcare facilities like immunization, antenatal care, and post-birth care have resulted in fewer mortalities. "Numerous schemes exist to support maternal and child health—ensuring their effective utilization is crucial for maximizing their impact and fostering healthier communities." Additionally, the project's analytical backbone was fortified by the implementation of a Linear Regression model, incorporating Fixed Effects and Random Effects, showcasing our commitment to robust and sophisticated data analysis.
