Humans living on the Moon sounds like something out of a sci-fi novel, but America and China are both planning to build Moon bases within the next decade. 1843 explores the challenges to lunar life and the technology being developed to counter them: https://econ.st/49GD6q5 Photos: Cassandra Klos / Concept Renders Courtesy of Icon

🌌 Why 2025 is a Landmark Year for Celestial Events 🌕✨ Space enthusiasts, casual stargazers, and anyone curious about the cosmos—2025 is shaping up to be a truly extraordinary year. And the best part? You won’t even need a telescope to witness some of these rare phenomena! Key Highlights: 🌎 During both the Spring and Fall Equinoxes, we’ll experience an incredibly rare pairing of a Total Lunar Eclipse and a Partial Solar Eclipse. This alignment is so unique that records don’t even show when it last occurred! 🌕 To close out the year, we’ll be treated to an extraordinary Supermoon Trilogy from October to December, offering stunning views of our closest celestial neighbor. Whether you're in awe of science or enjoy the beauty of our universe, these events remind us of the wonders above and the power of looking up. Let’s embrace 2025 as a year of inspiration, curiosity, and connection under the stars. 🌠 #Space #Science #LeadershipInWonder #CelestialEvents #2025Vision

As we approach the end of the year, you may find yourself with more time to relax, and what better way to chill out than to spend some time skywatching! So what's in the night sky right now? Shortly after sunset, several planets are visible to the naked eye. The very bright object visible in the West is the planet Venus, which may be referred to as the 'Evening Star'. Venus is so bright due to its exceptionally dense atmosphere, which has high concentrations of carbon dioxide. This means it is very reflective and shines very brightly - it is currently the 3rd brightest object in the sky after the Sun and the Moon! The planet Saturn is also visible, and appears as a moderately bright yellow point of light in the North-Western sky just after dark. While not remarkable to the naked eye, Saturn makes an excellent target for telescope observations, so now is a great time to dust off that old telescope in your garage and give it another try. Jupiter is also very bright in the North-Eastern sky, appearing as a very bright point of light much like Venus. Jupiter is another great object to observe with a telescope, and you may even be able to spot some of its four large moons through a good pair of binoculars. Apart from the planets, the sky is also filled with several beautiful constellations, such as Orion, Taurus and the Pleiades star cluster. Happy stargazing, and take care of our dark skies this festive season!
