Spacewear just got a massive upgrade. You're looking at the next generation of American spacesuits (designed by Prada x Axiom Space). The suits will be worn during the 2026 Artemis mission to the moon (the first time back to the moon in over 50 years). This marks the first spacesuit update in over 30 years. These suits are packed with cutting edge engineering and will support astronauts living on the moon's surface for 6 days. The suit design is much more flexible, breathable, and comfortable than previous versions. But the biggest difference is that these suits are designed to be repairable in space. Surprisingly, the old suits weren't able to be fixed from space...which made it much more dangerous for astronauts. Axiom was awarded a $230M contract to develop these suits. When making the video, my biggest question was "why are spacesuits so expensive to develop?" And the answer is that these aren't really spacesuits...they're more like wearable mini spacecraft. The life support backpack on the back of the suits carry everything needed to survive in space outside of the main ship. Wild. We wanted to create a private "space" for virtual meeting to talk to the hybrid team, and flex our scenic design muscles, from concept to reality, our wizards created a few thematic conference rooms. This grand illusion was fabricated from junkyard finds — a vacuum pump, hosing, even a medical gas regulator. Do You Know What Astronauts Eat in space?🚀 In my latest video project, I delved into the fascinating world of astronaut cuisine. Using a combination of captivating stock footage and dynamic animated vectors, I shed light on the evolution of space food and the culinary experiences of astronauts orbiting our planet. One of the most striking revelations I uncovered during my research is the significant transformation in the meals available to astronauts over the years. Gone are the days when they used to eat boring, freeze-dried food, but now they have a menu like ours on Earth!  From savory entrees to sweet treats, and even the simple pleasure of drinking water, astronauts now have access to a wide array of food and beverages that contribute to both their physical health and psychological well-being during long-duration missions. As a motion graphics designer, I had the privilege of visually bringing this story to life, incorporating engaging visuals and animations to enhance the viewer's understanding of the topic.  Through this project, I not only honed my skills in motion design but also gained a deeper appreciation for the remarkable ingenuity and innovation driving space exploration.
