This month, we have compassion for those affected by Alzheimer's and brain related health issues, as well as their caregivers and families. With over 6.7 million Americans living with Alzheimer's over the age of 65, early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to improving the lives of both patients and their loved ones. While medication accessibility is a vital aspect of care, lifestyle choices such as regular cardiovascular exercise, social connection, no smoking, getting enough sleep, maintaining a nutritional diet, and playing strategic games can also aid in lowering the risk of cognitive decline. Did you know that Alzheimer’s disease can develop over years without being noted? It advances through stages. In the pre-clinical stage, you might not have any troubles with memory loss or similar. In the meantime, however, pathological changes are already occurring in the brain. Dementia develops when everyday tasks like driving or cooking become a struggle. But here’s the good news: Spotting Alzheimer’s early and tweaking lifestyle habits can slow mild cognitive decline and might even slow its progression for years! 💡If you’re looking for ways to help your patients and promote brain health, check out our latest blog post about Alzheimer’s disease.
