Sales growth in US wine may have stagnated, but you know what's growing? Wines between $15 and $30. It's growing A LOT! You know what place in the country is best positioned to profitably produce the highest quality wine between $15 and $30? Washington! Don't buy the narrative that Washington wine is in decline. (Below $15, it absolutely is!) But growth is there to be had as more boutique producers that are seeing strong sales above $30 lean into the middle with new projects, new entrants find this sweet spot, and the big guys buy or develop new brands you're going to see a lot more Washington wine on tables nationally. The days of rising tide lifting all the boats in the wine industry is gone. Fortunately for Growers and Producers in Washington, the harbor where the tide is still rising is the one where Washington is most capable of competing. The latest cohort of Future Leaders have shared their critique of the One Grape & Wine Sector Plan draft. In an open letter to Wine Australia and Australian Grape & Wine, the authors acknowledge how they as a group have benefited from Wine Australia’s Future Leaders program, and highlight their apt position as graduates of this program to comment on the needs of the industry.
