Neuro Reconditioning Professional. AT/S&C, Entrepreneur. Instructor. Mentor. Learner. Human. Loves to play. Being the change I wish to see in the world.
“When you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Good planning is crucial to successful rehabilitation and performing at full potential. However most therapists treat reactively and day to day, instead of outlining the steps, describing the reasoning and following a process to ensure success. The three things that will help you make sure that you set up a good plan. 1) Know what your clients want and are trying to do with their body. Clients try to be active in ways that they are not prepared to handle. Knowing what the demands are of the activities they want to perform, and what your client currently lacks to be able to perform these motions, will guide your decisions on where to focus your time and energy and to achieve the desired outcome. Reverse engineering the process. 2) Be clear about the milestones that are necessary in the process. Rehab and recovery happens in phases, and base capability is early phase work, but generally where most manual therapists end their work. Capacity work needs to be introduced early and then progressively advanced in later phases. Takes time and progression to build movement capacity. 3) Understand your client’s ability to commit to the process. Giving your client too much or too little to do can really slow progress. Too much, the don’t do it. Too little, the progress is slow and they are not going to see change. Make sure you give them what they can handle, so they do their homework and be clear on the changes that come as you progress through the plan. #NeuroReconditioning #ReconditioninghqRevolution #MotionMastery

Licensed Prosessional Counselors, How long are your sessions? I typically do 45 minute sessions. As a young therapist, I chose to leave 15 minutes between clients to wrap up, grab a drink, check messages, and be prepared for my next session. Finding your style and tempo personally, as a therapist, is beneficial as you will bring that to your sessions. Both the therapist and the client work best when the therapist is understanding themselves and their schedule and the boundaries of time. At times, I will schedule every 45 minutes for 3 clients then an allotted break time (especially for times when a session may run a few minutes over to catch back up) and then return to clients. Learning how you best process, schedule, and organize is best for everyone to succeed. As therapists, we are all very different. That is wonderful, as there are many types of clients. #LPC-S #therapists #scheduling #management #knowyourstyle

Plantar fasciitis recently reminded me of the value of subject matter experts (SMEs). A college degree, easy access to YouTube and WebMD, and a little related experience are no match for a skilled expert. I spent 8 months halfheartedly trying to solve the matter on my own. After accepting that I didn't know what I was doing, it took just four short visits with a physical therapist--and following her prescription precisely--to eliminate my suffering. What pain are you and your team unnecessarily suffering because you're trying to tackle something on your own? If you want to take three minutes and read how my lesson applies to organizational and individual effectiveness, click the link below. https://lnkd.in/g-ESvrGw

OT Supervisor - (PG Cert Clinical supervision) - Independent Occupational Therapist - Children, Young People and Families - Extensive experience – Self-employed.
How can you build your confidence through OT supervision? Here are some quick tips to try: - Plan your OT supervision sessions ahead of time, to make effective use of the space. - Discuss clinical cases and relationship dynamics through a reflective practice lens. Come back and review things 1 or 2 months after the event, not just in the initial period of the issue. Has your perspective changed? would you do the same thing again? why? - Take time to create solution focused plans, so you leave supervision with option(s) to try in practice. OT supervision is not about going through checklist of caseload management. It is a space to learn and grow. Try these tips and let me know in the comments or send me a message if it helped. #occupationaltherapy #clinicot #schoolbasedot #independentot #OTsupervision #reflectivepractice
