For decades, boxing was the dominant combat sport as fighters like Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, and Evander Holyfield became household names. In recent years, MMA has caught up to the sweet science with Alex Pereira, Dustin Poirier, and Conor McGregor joining Canelo Alvarez, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua as fighters who can headline cards that sell out arenas and get a million pay-per-view buys. Even professional wrestling—long derided as sports entertainment because it is scripted—has grown more formidable over the past decade. The 2019 addition of All Elite Wrestling (AEW) provided World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) with its first true rival since WWE purchased World Championship Wrestling in 2001. With all three categories becoming more mainstream, MMA, boxing, and wrestling promotions are all fighting for much of the same audience and have been making a dash for cash to fuel growth. With the fight game getting bigger and the top promotions drawing real capital, the combat sports industry has become a winner’s game, as competitive outside the ring (or Octagon) as it is once the bell rings.

Inspiring Story: A Farmboy Defeats “The Wrestler Of The Century” For Olympic Gold Aleksandr Karelin, a Russian wrestler, was a force to be reckoned with. His wrestling prowess had earned him nicknames like the unimaginative “Russian Bear” and “Russian King Kong.” But perhaps the most fitting title was “the wrestler of the century.” Karelin was virtually unbeatable, having won three Olympic gold medals and nine World Championships. In 2000, at the Sydney Olympics, Karelin was the reigning champion in Greco-Roman wrestling’s super heavyweight division. He hadn’t lost a match in 13 years. His opponents feared him, and spectators marveled at his strength and technique. Enter Rulon Gardner, an unassuming farm boy from Wyoming. Gardner was a relative unknown in the wrestling world. He had never won a major international title and was considered a massive underdog against Karelin. But Gardner had something that statistics and titles couldn’t measure: heart and determination. In the gold medal match, Gardner faced Karelin. The entire wrestling community held its breath. Could the farm boy pull off the impossible? Against all odds, Gardner held his ground. He defended Karelin’s attacks, frustrated the Russian champion, and refused to be intimidated. In a stunning upset, Rulon Gardner defeated Aleksandr Karelin, winning the Olympic gold medal. The wrestling world was in shock, and Gardner’s victory became an enduring symbol of perseverance and the triumph of the human spirit1. Remember NOT to listen to the nay-sayers! Work hard and keep chasing your dreams, no matter what the "experts" tell you! #LinkFinancialAdvisory #AgainstAllOdds #TriumphOfTheHumanSpirit #NeverGiveUp #Inspiration #UnderdogVictory #Determination #Unstoppable #BelieveInYourself #DreamBig #OvercomingChallenges”

A born again Christian that is for a republic. A Bible & Fitness Influencer. Also a academic & career consultant.
Karl Gotch Card Deck Conditioning Program: Karl Gotch was a Belgian-American professional wrestler. In 1948 in the Summer Olympics in London he did both Greco-Roman Wrestling & Freestyle Wrestling. After his amateur wrestling he trained with Billy Riley in Catch-Can Wrestling, and Gotch trained in a Indian style of wrestling Pehlwani. There he developed a regiment calisthenics conditioning program. He was very influential in the development of Japanese professional wrestling & mix martial arts. His students would go onto develop training systems and promotions. It used to be in professional wrestling that to even consider training someone for professional wrestling that they required one to do 500 bodyweight squats & 100s pushups. There was a huge emphasis on physical conditioning, and that is why with MMA that wrestlers are the most dominant fighters by having the most MMA champions. Now with warehouse labor I believe that wrestling conditioning is the best way to keep one fit, safe, and strong to work in a warehouse. My first time in doing Karl Gotch’s Card Deck Routine was the hardest workout I did, so it is worth doing at least once a week. For this Summer this is my conditioning routine. Going through the entire deck with doing Indian Squats & Judo Pushups you end up doing 546 reps. #history #professionalwrestling #MMA #physicalconditioning #warehouselabor
