How do I explain what I do as a hospital chaplain to my smart little niece? I collaborated with a chatbot, and we came up with the following story. What is something you would add, change, or leave out?
The hospital has a whole team working together to help everyone feel better! For example, the doctors and nurses care for your health. The chaplain is another special helper on the team. They focus on you! They want to know who you are and how being in the hospital might affect your life.
Sometimes, being in the hospital can be scary or confusing. Maybe you miss your friends and family or worry about what's happening. That's okay! The chaplain listens to all those feelings, big or small. They're great listeners, just like a friend, and by listening, they can help you figure out ways to deal with those difficult feelings or situations.
They can be there to chat with you about anything you want, like your favorite things or what you miss from home. They can also read you a story, play a game, or sit quietly, whatever you need or like the most.
The chaplain wants to help you feel as comfortable as possible, even though things might be slightly different at the hospital. They also work with everyone who cares for you; they all know how you're feeling and can work together to make your stay a little easier. #chaplaincy #chaplain #spiritualcare
