In the face of adversity, it is easy to forget how competent you are. When you fall into that survival mode, you lose sight of your goals because your range of forward-thinking shrinks considerably, and negativity consumes you. Time moves faster because fear and panic are running your life. It will not be enough that cognitively, you know that challenges make you stronger and wiser. Your emotional brain is screaming, “Get into the flight or turn and run.” This is when practicing “Make it slow to make it smooth” works best.
