In recent months, I have been involved in an environmentally significant project developing a comprehensive global tree species database, with Nandan Pai. Our shared commitment to environmental sustainability, particularly reforestation's carbon sequestration potential, drove this initiative. The project stemmed from a crucial question: "How many tons of carbon dioxide can be offset by planting an acre of a specific tree species?" To answer this, I researched the native regions of tree species, optimal planting densities, and their carbon and oxygen exchange rates once mature. With my background in ESG Management I led the data collection and gathered detailed information on hundreds of tree species worldwide, focusing on their native environments, growth densities, and annual carbon offset and oxygen output. Nandan Pai, a Computer Science Engineer passionate about sustainable development, developed a user-friendly platform to communicate our findings. This platform helps individuals and organizations make informed tree-planting decisions for carbon offsets. This project has provided me with insights into the complexities of environmental data and has enhanced my analytical skills.
