This is absolutely true and balance should always be strived for. Of course it is best if one was to be able to have a rich fulfilling life with the right kind of quality involvement and time spent with family, friends, and an enjoyable personal life. However, for some, perhaps for many, the chance to ALSO have a great fulfilling career which might very well include career desires to grow and advance, can be an important part of one’s overall life. It is true that your job “is not your life” nor should it become so, but for many your job can be and perhaps should be “an important piece of your life”. To that end sometimes the opportunities to advance in a company are not a bad thing at all if coupled well with all other important elements, and can be part of what some would consider to be a “good career” for them. Let’s it denigrate the passion for career progress that many, but certainly not all, have burning within side them. After all a great career, a great family, great friends, and a great personal life would be a winning formula for almost everyone. Sometimes for some a great career does consist of achieving one’s career goals which can include advancement and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that
Absolutely
