I recently started playing pickleball, and I think it has been an excellent reminder of what it takes to succeed at new things. I already play tennis, so pickleball would be easy, right? 🎾 Wrong! ❌ It turns out, you can’t just apply your tennis knowledge to pickleball and be all set. You have to do some unlearning before you can really excel at a different discipline. The same is true in business and our careers. Sometimes you have to unlearn habits years in the making before you can really do well at something new. Sometimes, you have to take a step back before you take a step forward. 👟 #newthings #pickleball #unlearning
a PI Pickleball league would be so cool
I too would like to join in on pickleball-with-Melanie.
Melanie, same here! First lesson for Dave and me was on Sunday! Kept missing the ball because I was thinking the paddle is the same length as a tennis racket! Hope you are well :-)
Ummm, we need to play sometime!
I’m your girl! Next trip.

4moMelanie Shaffer so true! I find this repeatedly in consulting with businesses, particularly large organizations. There is often so much scar tissue and "that's the way we've always done it" mentality that resistance to transformative change runs deep. Willingness to unlearn and being open to the art of the possible would work wonders for transformation at scale! Thanks again for sharing Melanie.
