Headline to start the day: a new version of The Construction Playbook is due this Summer. Adoption is still a challenge, is better resourcing or a Construction Playbook ‘lite’ the answer? Long-term investment or some quick wins? I’d say a mixture of both.
The doors to our Wates House Pavilion are now open for Day 2 at UKREiiF! The team are excited to kick off another busy day of panel sessions and networking opportunities, starting with a discussion chaired by Wates Group Public Sector Director, Stephen Beechey. We kicked things off at 9.30am with a frank and engaging discussion around 'The Construction Playbook - still the path to a better future?' Day 2 also includes a packed line up of thought-provoking panel sessions unpicking challenging topics including what it takes to deliver successful public / private sector partnerships (11am) to sustainably shaping the science and research buildings of the future (2.15pm) and harnessing digitally enabled construction and MEP to drive sustainable development (1pm) - all led by experts from across the Wates Group who will be joined by leading industry peers. We look forward to welcoming you with a hot coffee, a comfortable chair (and shelter from the rain!) along with fresh insights at the UKREiiF conference again today. https://lnkd.in/eHJhsuHQ

I recently had the pleasure of joining the Royal Institute of British Architects Europe chapter's [RIBA EUROPE] working group. The committee led by Waldemar Koehler has been proactively working on the issues relevant to the industry, promoting architecture and creating networking opportunities by engaging in different activities. Please follow the link below to find out more about their work. The "Why Belong" statement by the group outlines the key reasons why an architect - especially those based in Europe - should be invested in the RIBA Europe chapter, and how it can help cultivate richer cross-border dialogues. RIBA Europe "Why Belong" statement: Why get involved with RIBA Europe? 1. You will belong to an active new chapter at no additional cost. 2. You will participate in an extensive architectural community. 3. Our group of more than 1,300 creates new value and opportunity for you. 4. Your involvement signals engagement with international issues. 5. Chapter events are generating a new regional communication network. 6. RIBA Europe will be cooperating with the RIBA Headquarters in the UK as well as the Chapters in the Americas, the Gulf Region and Asia/Australasia and you will be able to connect with architects from those regions and participate in events and workshops across the Globe. 7. You will expand your regional influence and reach. 8. You will form new cross-border business relationships and opportunities. 9. The enhanced RIBA presence promotes visibility and engagement. 10. RIBA will encourage high-quality architecture and professional education. 11. We will advocate for the architecture profession and build its influence. 12. RIBA will be cooperating with several Universities in Europe and is currently establishing contacts with UN Institutions (UNITAR, UNICEF, UN HABITAT), as well as with museums and the private sector to support education, business development and enhance the importance of architecture in the global environment. 13. You will gain new insights, support, and practice assistance. 14. Our programmes will take members to exceptional places and projects. 15. Continuing professional development will be of the highest quality. 16. Our corporate partners in Europe will work directly with you. 17. You will gain access to RIBA advice on legal matters and design competitions. 18. We are forging closer ties to Europe’s national architecture organisations. 19. RIBA Europe will be working on the most important issues of our time such as ESG (Environmental, Social & Governance), Decarbonisation/Net Zero, UN SDG (Sustainable Development Goals), and Peace and Artificial Intelligence (AI). 20. RIBA Europe will be promoting Women’s role in society and actively working on topics like LGBT+, Human Rights and DE&I (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion). https://lnkd.in/d4Cvh7RG #riba #ribaeurope #architecture #international

As part of Realdania’s 25th-anniversary initiative, Vores Sted (Our Place), 60 local associations across Denmark have now been allocated a meeting place to strengthen their local community. Out of a total of 150 meeting places, these 60 pavilions, crafted from recycled and biogenic materials, are scheduled for construction in 2025. The project is a collaboration between Realdania, six design offices, including Cobe, ReVærk, pihlmann architects, Archival Studies, Rumgehør and Studio XYZ, along with technical advisors. We can't wait to see the meeting places come to life and foster community across Denmark. Learn more about the project here: https://lnkd.in/dE6VVkkA
