Our mission is to provide the highest quality healthcare by putting patient safety first. We start by encouraging each team member to be a Zero Harm Champion. Our commitment to this mission has been achieved by being recognized as 1 of only 17 hospitals in the state of Florida and the only hospital in Brevard County to achieve a Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) infection rate of Zero! Are you an infection control officer or a biller and coder in a hospital setting? The OIG has added a new study to its work plan. This study will analyze Medicare claims to assess patterns in the inpatient hospital billing of sepsis in 2023 and describe how the billing of sepsis varied among hospitals. The OIG will also estimate the costs to Medicare associated with using the broader, rather than the narrower, definition of sepsis. #infectioncontrol #billingandcoding #hospitals #compliance #healthcare #sepsis #clinicaldatamanagement #clinicaldocumentation #coder

Is IV clarithromycin better than oral? A question I was asked while on infection ward rounds, it was a great chance to dispel a myth: 💊 clarithromycin is highly lipophilic resulting in excellent tissue penetration irrespective of the route of administration 💊 it has 20 x greater concentration in pulmonary epithelial tissues than serum 💊it takes 1 hour to infuse IV clarithromycin and serum concentrations peak 2 hours post PO administration, this time difference is unlikely to be clinically relevant 💊there are so many benefits to the oral route>IV including reduced risk of infection, patient preference, saving nursing time as well as being cheaper and better for the environment So next time you see IV 💉clarithromycin prescribed think PO 💊💊
