#Meningitis is real, and its impact can be devastating. In 2010, Chelsea, a three-year-old, tragically passed away within hours due to meningococcal meningitis, and her parents couldn’t get the information they needed about the disease. Her story is a heartbreaking reminder of how fast this disease can strike. Read Chelsea’s story and learn why it's so important to join us in raising awareness to #DefeatMeningitis on this #WorldMeningitisDay. #VaccinesWork https://lnkd.in/dVH-4cue

This #HistioAwarenessMonth we’re breaking down this complicated disease into simple terms. What happens to a person living with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, better known as HLH? Put simply, something goes wrong with the macrophages, cells whose job is to clean up the mess in the human body. In a healthy individual the macrophages work together with red blood cells, but in a person with HLH, they cause damage by eating red blood cells and other healthy cells. Glaucoma, often referred to as the "silent thief of sight," is a group of eye conditions that can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss if left untreated. With no early symptoms, awareness becomes our most potent tool in the fight against this sight-stealing disease. And that is exactly why January is officially Glaucoma Awareness Month - a whole month where we want to shine a spotlight on this life-altering disease. Throughout this time, it is important we come together to educate ourselves and our communities about the importance of regular eye check-ups, early detection and the ongoing management of glaucoma. By spreading awareness, we empower individuals to take proactive steps towards preserving their vision and maintaining eye health. Together, let's make a difference in the lives of those at risk and contribute to a world where everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a clear and vibrant vision. 🌈🌍

March 12 is World Glaucoma Day. It aims to raise awareness of the disease that can silently steal our sight. 👁️ Many forms of glaucoma have no warning signs. By the time the first symptoms appear, the disease has progressed, and the damage to the optic nerve has occurred. Patients with glaucoma have difficulty with everyday activities such as driving 🚗, reading 📖, and even walking 🚶. As the disease progresses, they can't keep their jobs. The disease, which can only be slowed down, takes a toll on their quality of life. It’s important to take care of your eyes. ✔️ Get regular eye exams after the age of 40. #glaucoma #diseaseawareness #ophthalmology #WGW2024 #WeAreMedis

The LYMPHATIC SYSTEM The Lymphatic system is a network of vessels, nodes, and organs that work together to transport Lymph; a clear fluid containing white blood cells and waste products, throughout the body. The Lymphatic system is a crucial part of the human body's immune system and plays a vital role in maintaining fluid balance. Overall, the Lymphatic system is essential for maintaining the body's overall health and immunity by filtering Lymph, fighting infections, and regulating fluid balance. Women's cardiovascular health is a critical aspect of their overall well-being, and it involves understanding and addressing the unique factors that can impact the cardiovascular system in women. Here are some key considerations: Traditional risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, and obesity, affect both men and women. However, hormonal changes, especially during menopause, can also influence heart health. As would be expected, the data shows that the risk of heart disease increases with women's age, and menopause is associated with a decline in estrogen levels, which may contribute to changes in blood vessel function. So, women and men (who love them) should wear red on February 2. #women #hearthealth #heartdisease #awareness
Are you #red-y? National #WearRedDay® is Friday, Feb. 2! Join us as we raise awareness about cardiovascular disease, the No. 1 killer of women, and save the lives of women we love. #WearRedAndGive
