As part of my College Program with the University of Kentucky, I had to reflect on Finding my Mission, Passion and Purpose. I wanted to share my thoughts. Finding Your Mission, Passion, and Purpose | Finding Your Why- Reflection What is your life's mission, passion, or purpose? My life's mission is to create art that positively impacts others. I want to use my artistic skills to bring joy, wonder, and inspiration into people's lives. This passion for creating meaningful art drives me in everything I do. What is your career field of choice? What is the area of focus in your career field do you want to do? My chosen career field is to be an Artist, specifically within the theme park design industry. My dream job is to be an Imagineer at Disney, where I can contribute to creating magical and immersive experiences through art and design. Why have you chosen this career field area of focus? The theme park design industry allows me to combine my passion for art with the ability to create lasting memories for others. Imagineering at Disney is particularly appealing because of the company's commitment to storytelling and creating happiness. Contributing to iconic experiences like riding Pirates of the Caribbean or seeing Cinderella's castle come to life is incredibly motivating. How does this career field area of focus fit into your mission, passion, or purpose? Being an Imagineer allows me to create art on a grand scale, impacting millions through unforgettable experiences. The joy and wonder I see on children's faces during the Disney College Program is precisely the impact I aspire to make with my art. Working at Disney would allow me to use my creativity to spread joy and inspire others, perfectly aligning with my life's mission. Donna F. One of the things I love about Boldsquare's internship program is not that we get extra pairs of hands in the office to work on projects - I'm firm in my belief that we are here in service of our interns, not the other way around. But what I really enjoy is watching them find the thing that they really enjoy doing. Often they come into the office thinking that their career might be heading in one direction, only to try something new and turn to it as their new passion. This summer we were lucky to have Jacob Ward and Kush Patel, M.S. in the office, and one of the things I asked for them to do was to have a go at creating a marketing video for Boldsquare. I had two basic requests - that it feature some of the incredible talent of the team, and that it be a 'franchisable' concept that we could apply to other team members. Neither of them had really created a video concept before, and certainly had never filmed a pilot. It was a creative stretch for them both. The initial attempts were rough, though showed promise. So they worked on them some more. We even paid them some extra hours after their internship was complete to see if they could push the ideas further. The final cut by Kush certainly isn't launch-ready, and there's plenty of things that could be tweaked and changed to help get it to the point where you could create a series from it. But for somebody who has never created a corporate video before...well, it's pretty impressive. Kush clearly has a long career ahead of him as he continues to learn. PS Points for anyone who can name the movie director that Kush was given by creative director Stewart Pack to provide inspiration.

This is my last week of full-time employment before I embark on the journey of running my own business. More significantly, it’s my last week full-time at Arts1. For some, going to work every day can feel like a chore, and I’ve had those moments too, cbut working at Arts1 has been the complete opposite. From a selfish perspective, it’s been an environment where ideas are welcomed, a positive work culture is prioritised, laughter is constant, and kindness, care, and progressiveness shine through. The key word here is team. The world of performing arts education has, unfortunately, become increasingly commercial. Many institutions have lost sight of the students’ needs, turning into machines that sell dreams without offering genuine support. Places on courses are handed out before auditionees even step through the door, with individuals treated as numbers rather than people. It’s disheartening to see this happening on such a scale. This is not the case at Arts1. The school’s commitment to every student’s personal growth, individuality, and journey is unmatched. It’s this dedication that made creating the degree course at Arts1 such a proud achievement for me. I genuinely believe it represents the future of drama school training, and I can’t wait to see how it continues to evolve. Not only have I witnessed 16-21-year-olds turn their dreams into thriving careers, but I’ve also had the joy of watching young children step into a studio for the first time and discover a place where they truly belong. A place I wish I had found much earlier in my own journey. Spaces like Arts1 are invaluable for helping children build confidence, find their community, and uncover their true passions. I'd like to personally give my thanks professionally and personally to James Grimsey and Rebecca Carrington who have created this world for young performers to feel safe and to honestly have their best interests at heart. And for giving me a place to be myself at work too. Anybody lucky enough to work at Arts1 will be in for a treat. It's been an absolute pleasure to be part of and honestly have met some friends for life here.

Most people relate to the subject of structure like it is things in a certain order, or sorting everything in to different boxes. Boxes has nothing to do with it. Structure gives rise to patterns and behavior not the other way around. When we have ice on the sidewalk here in Sweden everyone change their behavior, they walk slower and spread their legs to keep their balance. It doesn’t matter if they think in a particular way at this moment, everyone do the same thing. The underlying structure gives rise to this particular behavior. Whiteout ice different behavior. Structure is dimensional not linear. Instead of 1, 2, 3, 4………….it’s 2, 9, 74, 11, 3………….. If you’re in a lousy structure it doesn’t matter how hard you work. You will never end up where you want to be. On the other hand, if you build a structure that supports you aspirations the prediction is that you will get what you want. If you become good at skating you take advantage of the underlying structure. The Living Art course is created by Robert Fritz. The bestselling author of the book “The Path of Least Resistance”. With a clear path through Helene aftermath and leaving before Milton landing, Print #49 has landed and is OUT NOW!!! Pick up at usual downtown spots in Blacksburg and now EXTENDED DISTRIBUTION in DOWNTOWN ROANOKE. #16blocks Est 2007 16 Blocks 1.0 2007-2012 (Print 1-41) Re-Launch 2023 (Print 42-49) Print #50 Coming Nov 2024 -- Publisher Note #49 October 2024 Dear Reader, old friend or new? Passing through? How do you do? Join us, have a seat. There’s a lot going on. Stay awhile, we’ve time. Good to put down the cellular and read on the larger pages, and the art looks better at a magazine’s 10” by 13” than a pocket phone’s 3” by 3”. It certainly got Spooky on the Draper Block in Blacksburg with the destruction of Stella Rose Outdoor Piano during the production of this issue. Decorating the piano was one of our first public art volunteer efforts, and had met with excellent reception. Noticing the piano’s absence, receiving an email that the she was “damaged during construction”, taking off Rita’s artwork at Cemetery lot, presenting at Town Council questioning what happened: that all occurred in a few days time. https://lnkd.in/eis6d7gi https://lnkd.in/e-jQ_QUA Seeing a cherished thing smashed and going to a place that is officially nicknamed Cemetery Lot well before her expiration date is an act I witnessed that I have trouble understanding the motive. We have documented the entire process on 16blocks.org if you’d like a deeper dive. I don’t know if even M Night Shyamalan would have seen this ending coming. The show, of course, never stopped, and we encourage you to engage in your own community. Being an active citizen in a field where you are smart and passionate is a cathartic experience. Local communities thrive on the activity of the local population, and being involved in a project is surely more satisfying than criticizing from the bleachers. Our mailbox is always open for feedback, story ideas, and inquiries on how to become a Creative Contributor, apply for an internship, or don’t know what to do but want to participate in our local print gathering spot in the Blocks and Beyond. At first glance, a name tag is just a small piece of plastic. A simple identifier - easily dismissed and immediately forgotten. But when I look at these, I see stories - of growth, opportunity, resilience, grit, and dreams that became a reality. Each one represents a chapter in my own journey. From Tennessee Technological University, where I began my journey as a professional intern at Walt Disney World, to the National Geographic Society, where exploration and curiosity fuel endless discovery, and finally to Disney Institute where I get to inspire others (hopefully?) every day. These name tags aren’t just labels; they’re symbols of belonging, mistakes made and lessons learned, and of the incredible people I have met along the way. It’s a reminder that even the smallest thing can have the biggest impact. A Guest remembering my name. A conversation sparked because of a hometown connection. And all of the other moments of inspiration that might not have happened otherwise. Never underestimate the significance of what seems small. Sometimes, it is those little things that change everything. #Disney #DisneyInstitute #WaltDisneyWorld #Stories #Storytelling #NationalGeographic #innovation #personaldevelopment #development #belonging #ChristopherNeverChris
