Graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, YouTuber, writer/screenwriter, actor, singer, astronaut... last one was definitely a phase. When I was younger, I wanted to JUST MAKE A DECISION about my career, and stick to it like the rest of my friends. But I think being a creative person sometimes means it can be hard to sit still and know which perfect little box to tick or which path to follow (spoiler: it doesn't exist). Whilst I always knew I wanted to do something creative, I had no clue what. And, looking back, it's clear I was always collecting and curating content in some shape or form. Until recent years though, the content creator career path didn't even exist, which is pretty mad to think about. Fast-forward to now, I'm in a role that allows me to hone multiple skillsets and play to my strengths. It offers variety, and plenty of opportunities to be innovative and try different things. Most importantly, I'm able to balance work around my life... a total privilege, but what it should be all about really. And I'm grateful to work in a culture/team that supports and respects this. You don't have to be a professional to be an artist. If you become one, you will most likely help build other people's stories. For example, at Pixar, the stories being told are from the people up top in the corporate ladder. If you would like to share your own stories, you don't have build a professional career. Today you can do it through social media. Now, if what you want is to learn, develop your art skills, and help other people tell their stories, then be a professional. "A Profession is a paid occupation to serve others" Professionals help other people! An artist it's not strictly about serving others. It's about expressing your feelings and your own stories. See the distinction? That's why if you want to be a professional artist, it's not about you.  It's providing a service to people who want to tell their own stories. So if you are deciding between pursuing animation as a career, have this in mind before you make this big decision. Good day!

Beyond aesthetics, the playing card theme underscores my commitment to storytelling and thematic coherence. Each piece within my portfolio is a chapter in a larger narrative, weaving together elements of innovation, and personal expression as I strive to evoke a sense of wonder and fascination reminiscent of shuffling through a deck of cards.

How do you present yourself as an artist in a professional manner? From my experience in the field of creative communication, in corporate as wel as purely artistic contexts, I wrote this short text with 4 tips to increase credibility as an artist. They form the foundation for when you want to get yourself 'out there'. This can be useful when you apply for an open call, participate in a networking event or join a portfolio platform like Behance or VJBooking (where I work for at the moment).
